Dorcas raised a brow at her, shaking her head since Mary didnât seem inclined to talk about it. Instead she held up the take away and dropped it onto the table with a sigh, âWas hoping youâd be home. Going to have to take this over to Remy if you werenât and you know how we just smoke weed and listen to records for hours. Iâd loose all my productivity for the day.â She nudged a couple books off of a chair and sat down, lifting her arms over her head with a wide smile. âMe? Well⌠Taking care of Marbles, trying to get Siri to return my fuckinâ phone call. Blasted git. Heâs been avoiding me all damn week.â
âIâm always home, Doe.â Â Mary said laughing lightly, as she picked up one of the take away boxes. Â âHowâs Mare doing? Â She seemed a bit better the other night when I came by. Â Then again we were drunk, so it couldâve been that.â Â Mary said, thoughtfully, trying to figure out if Marlene was actually getting better, or Mary was just worse, so she seemed better by comparison. Â âJust go see him in person, he canât ignore you then.â
pwormtail:
Because he wasnât? Or maybe he liked to think he wasnât. Mary was just too damn nice. He shook his head as he reached for a smoke. His go to in any situation, it gave him something to do with his hands so that they were busy. He swayed slightly when she nudged him, he set his other large hand on the top of her head. She was one of the best people but he had a feeling she hated that too. To always being casted as the good one, he kind of liked being relegated to the worst Marauder. But he was still one of them. Like she was one of her friends, âI canât figure you out, Mary. Could have just said Thanks Pete, didnât tell the boys or the girls about what happened and left it that. And here you are. with me.â His hand moved, arm encircling her neck. Without thinking he pressed a kiss to her temple. âBut thanks.. for carin. For whatever reason.â
âIâm pretty easy to figure out. Â If I didnât think you were nice, or worth being around, then I wouldnât be around you.â Â Mary said, shrugging her shoulders lightly. Â She didnât think she had a very complicated system, either she liked being around you or she didnât. Â If she didnât like being around you, she wouldnât be rude, but she wouldnât go out of her way to talk to the person. Â Mary leaned into Peter, as he kissed her temple, smiling. Â âNothing to say thanks for, thatâs what friends are for.
pwormtail:
Because Mary was different he settled back, leaning against one of the posts near the building. She looked happy, which made him smile at least for knowing it. A plan was better than drowning like everyone was watching Marlene doing. He almost thought Mary was going to spin around with how happy it seemed to make her. Her second comment though made him pause, âWait, me?â Why him? He was just some bloke, hell not even a good one.
Mary laughed lightly at his question. Â âOf course, who else do you think I was talking to?â Â Mary asked, with a smile on her face, as she lightly nudged him. Â She would never understand how oblivious he was to how great of a person he was. Â Sure, he saved her life, but she could have just said thank you and parted ways, but she continued to be friends with him because he was such a nice and genuine person.

âNow that actually sounds like a plan.â And as the smile went across Maryâs face Marlene relaxed for the first time since she had walked in the door. âYouâll have competition for your first customer, thatâs for sure. Between Doe, Lily and me. The three of us already eat you out of your flat so why not your bakery.â She beamed at the thought before sitting on the bed, her legs crossed Indian style. âWhat shall you call this heavenly place?â
âItâs not a very well thought out plan, but a plan nonetheless.â Â Mary said with a small laugh. Â âIâm glad, that brings the number of customers up to four.â Â She smiled, she was so happy that her friends were supporting her in this, not that she would think they wouldnât, but it wasnât necessarily the most realistic idea she has ever had. Â âThat is a secret.â Â Mary winked, she had thought of a name, but she wanted to tell everyone it at the same time.
foxlikegazelle:
Dorcas had not been able to get to Mary for the last couple weeks. Dealing with Sirius, Marlene and just about every other person in her life. It was a busy schedule she tended to keep and while she didnât want to admit it, sometimes it was exhausting. Shoving her curls out of her face, Marlene had needed her, still did and she was her soul mate, Lily was her person and Maryâ Mary was that person that Doe hated leaving on the outside. With some takw away in her hands she headed up to her friendâs apartment with a slight yawn that she hid behind her arm. âItâs me! Iâm coming in!â
âHey love.â she raised a brow, watching the cluster of newspaper all over the place. âWhat⌠alright Iâm out of the loop. But I brought curry.â
âOkay.â Â Mary shouted back as she jumped up in an attempt to make the living room look a little more tide. Â âOh itâs nothing much, just a bit of light reading.â Â Mary said, trailing off at the end. Â She hadnât told Dorcas or Lily about being fired from the book store yet, and was hoping she wouldnât have to until she opened the bakery. Â âAnyways, thanks for bringing curry!â Â Mary said with a slight smile, only just remembering that she might have forgotten to eat all day. Â Shaking her head, Mary cleared all of the newspaper clippings from the living room, and dumped them in a pile on a nearby chair. Â Â âHow have you been?â
pwormtail:
He had his smoke to his lips before her smirked and shook his head, it was almost a rueful smile but the fact he could see her doing it, and being good at it made his blue eyes a bit warmer than they would be for anyone else trying to start something like that. Â
âSounds like a good idea to me, youâre always baking for everyone might as well turn a profit.â Heâd grown up on the street, he knew the kind of money that could be lost in just kids nicking stuff from stands. But she had him, and that might help out somewhat. âYou need anything, Mar. You know where to find me.â Hell how many times had he said that over the years? If you need me you know where I am. Like he was some kind of summon creature, not like he didnât feel that way. âI donât have much but I can lift.â
Mary smiled widely, happy to know that one of her close friends approved of her idea. Â âExactly what I was thinking.â Â Mary said with a small laugh, she was so happy to finally have an idea of what she was going to do. Â âOf course, but you know Iâm always going to need you.â Â Mary said, she didnât know how Peter ever thought she wouldnât need or want him around. Â
Mary had been sitting in her apartment all day. Â Typically she would be out working all day, but seeing as she was recently fired, that wasnât in the cards, so she had spent the past week holed up in her apartment. Â While she was typically very responsible, that had been thrown out the window, as she stayed up until all hours of the night, trying to figure out how on earth she was going to get the money to open a bakery. Â Figuring that she should use her time on something useful, about five hours ago, Mary began searching the newspapers for places she could buy. Â She was oblivious to the hours passing by her, when all of the sudden she heard a knock at the door. Â âComing!â @foxlikegazelle
pwormtail:
He didnât think he was brave, he struggled with the fact that when it comes down to it heâs a coward. He fights when he is pushed to far to stop it, when he canât do more than that. But if Mary believed in him, it made him question himself even more. He was already mental, âShould try to get on up at Mungos, make those sick sods happy to see a pretty face now and again.â He grinned at her, she really did make him question everything he thought about himself with genuine kindness.Â
What the hell was he supposed to do with this? He at least knew one thing, he was glad she didnât think he was a waste of time.
âWhile that is a lovely idea, Iâve come up with one that might work a bit better for me.â Â Mary said with a smile, and rolled her eyes at the pretty face bit, she wasnât too confident in her looks. Â She had only talked to one other person about her new job idea, but that didnât stop her from being incredibly excited about the job. Â âIâm going to open up a little bakery, if I can get the funds together that is.â
littlemissmckinnon:
âI can call in a favor with my brothers?â She offered with a hesitant nodded towards the bottle. She picked it up pouring Mary another shot before taking one for herself. The boys were well enough known around the Ministry that she supposed she might be able to get Mary an office job. Or Marlene hoped, rather but she was also right that given the state of things, her brothers may not be able to do anything.
âWhile that would be brilliant, I have an idea.â Â Mary said, smiling genuinely for the first time that night. Â She had been stewing on the idea before she had even been fired, and figured that now was as good a time as any to do it. Â âIâm gonna open a bakery.â Â She said, thinking through all the things she would have to do to actually make it happen.
pwormtail:
He really wanted to argue with her, really. But he didnâtâ she wouldnât let him anyway. Mary might have seemed like a delicate flower but she could handle her own. And when she was being stubborn heâd learned to just let her have her way, like he had back then. He shrugged, it was what it was but he liked that she cared. She was too good of a person really.
âWhat about you? Howâs things been?â
âDonât you shrug, Peter Pettigrew, you know itâs true.â Â Mary said stubbornly, with a smile on her face. Â She would never understand how one of the most brave people she knew, would continue to doubt themselves. Â âThings are okay, I suppose. Â Been spending most of my time looking for jobs.â

âI think you might have to brace yourself for this news,â Rabastan said, his voice switching from the genuine worry he was ashamed at having slipped into into something more familiarââ a type of solemn that was laden around the edges in joking, reverting to some halfhearted teasing while he got his bearings back. He sat back onto bent legs, his feet tucked under him as he knelt and his heels supporting him. âMary Macdonald: youâre mean. Youâre a mean person, and I never would have pegged you for it. But here you are.â
Mary narrowed her eyes at him playfully as she pretended to brace herself.  At his so called ânewsâ, Mary laughed and hit his arm lightly.  âI said I was sorry!â  She said though laughs.  She hadnât meant to worry him at all, and still felt slightly bad about the whole thing.  âIâm not mean, I just didnât expect you to fall for it.â
