i wrote some words about the difference in musicality from shoma and yuzuru and I’m gonna throw this in here
Yuzu feels as if he’s adding something to the music, complementing it; he feels the music always and constantly tries to fit everything to it, from small hand movements to the jumps. he’s just very musical and he KNOWS it (imo). Chopin’s Ballade, for me, is the absolute shining gem of that - he’s not only hitting all the musical cues, but he is slow and gentle when the piano is slow and gentle, and he is fast and furious when the piano is so. and judging from some interviews and my own observations, he doesn’t need that… explained to him, he already feels it.
Shoma’s musicality, meanwhile, feels almost subconscious, at least more so than Yuzuru’s — he actually grows into the music until it owns him, until he just becomes inseparable from it (and it doesn’t happen all at once — just look at Ladies in Lavender, he only really started shining in it in CDP!). he mentioned in interviews that he just wants to express the music as much as he can, and so he does: acts just as a vessel for the music, just someone to put it into movements, to translate it into visuals. he needs time and practice and many performances to fully embrace the music piece, but once he does, he does everything with it.

shoma snickers with us skaters behind yuzu's back but acts friendly to his face
I am not even sure what this is directly referring to nor do I understand the intention. Do I see it as: Painting Shoma in a bad light? Shoma has fun with the US skaters at ice shows and that's problematic because of Yuzu? Shoma being "fake" to Yuzu? Whatever the intention seems negativity...so
What you are trying to provoke with your ask here anon?
I am going to answer anyway:
You know you can laugh and have fun with some ppl AND be friendly towards someone else with the same genuineness and have fun with them too. It's not mutually exclusive. It's called human relationships and we don't know how Yuzu's relationship with Shoma is, nor do we know the true nature of Shoma's relationship with Nathan or any of the other US skaters. And btw it's not behind someone's back if it's public knowledge and spoken into the open. You cannot know if Yuzu thought anything is done behind his back because we haven't heard of Yuzu personally since Beijing and Yuzu would never adress such a non-issue.
Why is it so hard to understand that actually Yuzu, Shoma and Nathan show nothing but respect and kindness towards one another? They always praise each other, they never say a bad word about each other and they all understand best what each of them has to go through to be at the level that they are. Maybe they are not like "best and closest friends" irl, but they certainly get along very well when they meet.
Let's see when was the last time they all met? 🤔 Don't they just look like a bunch of ppl who have fun? To me it seems like it.
You can try to see bad in everything or you can just let other ppl - you don't even know irl - live and let them have different relationships with different ppl without speculating about any bad intentions. And even if there would be a an issue between Yuzu and Shoma it's hardly our place to judge and speculate about it. It's their live and it's none of our business how deep or not their connection goes. If you don't believe in their friendship, at least believe in their mutual respect. I enjoy seeing them together as I see nothing but genuine care for one another.
I can only speculate about why anon made such negative conclusions, but my guess is that much of those kind of negative conclusions are based on own experience rather than "proof" or "knowledge" about said skaters.
