Silent Hill: Double Under Dusk

Double Under Dusk is a cell phone comic written by Hiroyuki Owaku and illustrated by Masahiro Ito. It came out in Japan in 2007. There does not seem to be any plans for a paper release, though some fans have asked Ito about it.

The plot centers around a man named Brian Dawson, who is mourning the death of his son, Ronny. He meets a young woman named Lindsay and they travel together to Silent Hill.

Do you guys know what this? No? Well, I’ll tell you. 

It’s the ultimate seal-of-approval that Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Chappie’ could ever receive.

I mean, that is, unless you of course, forget about the fact that both William fucking Gibson and Stephen fucking King both loved this film, but I digress. 

Back to what this is… it’s three illustrations from three notorious, well-renowned Japanese artists.

The first illustration comes from legendary ‘Silent Hill’ designer (he only designed the seminal character known as Pyramid Head), MASAHIRO ITO.

The second illustration–and this is my personal favorite–comes from the motherfucking legendary ‘Ghost in the Shell’ and ‘Patlabor’ helmer himself, MAMORU OSHII.

And the third, and final rendition, comes from SHINJI ARAMAKI, the director of ‘Captain Harlock’ and ‘Appleseed ALPHA.’

The White Hunter!

A new piece of art has just arise from Team Silent’s original art director and creature designer Masahiro Ito! The image is of a version of Pyramid Head that Ito calls “Белый охотник” otherwise known as “The White Hunter”, created for a Japanese Silent Hill: Book Of Memories campaign. This version of Pyramid Head was actually seen in the graphic novel created by Ito included with the Silent Hill: Zero OST released in Japan a few years back. This is definitely my favorite version of Pyramid Head! A white Russian Pyramid Head!
