finally getting around to putting some pictures out there. not sure where to start since. i. idk really what anyone's interested in seeing lmao

but one of the first things we went to see was of course the eiffel tower so ig i'll start there. i'd seen it from afar the last time i was in paris but i didn't get to see it up close and i definitely didn't get to go to the top of it. most of these are the views from the second to top level where it's Open. the last one is from the very very top which is Enclosed and very small, so honestly i didn't stay there very long haha

there's also apparently a level that has some glass floors you can walk on but i either didn't see them or i was on the wrong level. but when i was back on the ground again and waiting for some of our group i did notice a group of kids above me jumping on that glass floor lmao

there were also ducklings and the way everyone (including me obviously) Stopped to take pictures of them under the eiffel tower was hilarious

sometimes (a lot of times, really) i think i'd like to go to some kind of group therapy setting for abuse survivors just bc i'd never really gotten a chance to talk with others who have gone through a similar thing and sometimes i think it might Soothe something in me a little, to feel less alone and less Weird

but sometimes i also worry that. even among that group i would still be Weird and not find too much camaraderie bc at least online i rarely see sentiments that aren't just. full on anger and hatred or dismissal of their abuser. i never really. made it to that stage. i can acknowledge that it was wrong and that i didn't deserve it and fully believe it, but the anger at what happened, and especially at the one who Did It, never really manifested

like i can't even really confide in my mom despite her being similarly abused bc she absolutely did arrive at that anger and never got past it which is not necessarily me saying she shouldn't have but just that it makes trying to commiserate with her pretty iffy

#she also gets very stuck on things like 'why would god let things like this happen' and i just have to sorta gently put my hand on hers like #idk what to say to that part sorry. i don't care why god lets things like this happen. i don't care about god at all ghfhfieo #i have no clue what to say to her when she starts in on that orz #genuinely #i've worked hard to Drop all that and i feel so much lighter lmao i wish i could help her do the same but idk how #or even if that's what she really wants in the first place rip #abuse #idk. sometimes there's a cynicism i sense from other survivors that i don't personally vibe with. obviously it's not Wrong exactly #it's just. that i don't have it or the anger occasionally makes me wonder if there's something wrong with me #or that it will come across that way to people who know better. who will then think i'm lying or that what happened must not have been #very bad. otherwise i'd surely be livid #tbh i've always assumed it was bc of Who my abuser was to me that made me so conflicted but nowadays i'm thinking that's not it

i might just be a sucker but i saw this commercial so many times while i was holed up in the hotel room for a day after i fucked up my foot and i'm still not sick of it tbh. it's just genuinely very cute to me lmao

i also spent that day watching a lotttt of french-dubbed cold case and eventually many hours of a french show which is apparently based on an original quebec show called un gars, une fille (a guy, a girl?? i think) and i just discovered a bunch of the episodes are on youtube for free which is awesome

ofc i don't speak french so i didn't really know what was going on most of the time but the acting, facial expressions, and what i could pick up really did hammer in a lot of the jokes so i honestly had a good time with it. trying to see if i can find some of my favorites again

there's two more concerts this year that i'm so far Aware of that i'd love to go to and that's lord huron in july and shaboozey in september

#yeah ik i just barely got into the latter guy like. last year lmao but!! have u considered i love his music a bunch already ghhfhief #i haven't been keeping an eye on any concerts this year tbh so i'm glad i happened upon these three on accident #i'll have to keep a closer watch and see if any others pop up #esp at these smaller venues like last night. i tend to like them more bc they're usually standing room only #i like being able to wander around lmao #lord huron especially will be performing at my favorite outdoor venue so i am particularly excited about that one

i remember when i was a teenager (this song came out in 2005 Apparently so i would have been like. 16) and i still had some unfair Baises against certain types of music, this song was one of the first ones to get me like. 'actually maybe rap can be fun (not Bad On Principle)' and it was mostly bc i used to watch music videos in the morning before school and they played this one All The Time but i didn't mind bc it was really fun to watch

the main takeaway i have from last night's concert is i really underestimated how good of a singer he is

im also really starting to understand what concerts do for me as far as enjoying music goes, and part of is that. while i'm generally not interested in actually meeting artists and bands face to face (idk if it's a nerves thing or if it's true disinterest but either way the result is the same), i do like getting to see them interact with the crowd and just Talk, especially if it's one i'm familiar with already and really like

in this case, he told a lot of stories of his Misadventures as a teen/young adult delinquent and it was delightful tbh. he had a great way with telling stories (and so did the opening act! they seemed to have some very similar upbringings lmao)

he also did my (current) favorite song of his so that was nice. since he was doing stripped down, acoustic versions of all his songs, he added a few vocal flourishes to some of them, including this one, and i liked what he added tbh
