“This ice cream cake is my new boyfriend.”
Dream Daddy Starters
“Isn’t that a little strange? You’re a baker, not an ice creamer.”
cupcakes-and-british-tea:
“Aha… Right, yes, sorry I do apologize. Force of habit I suppose.” That and Oliver knew that he was far more likely to forget, but he wouldn’t actually admit that out loud. Leaning back against the front of the counter after picking up his own and taking a bite, something struck him. Marya hadn’t been here before, has she?
“I’m quite curious, what brought you in today?”
She hummed and kept nibbling on the cake. “I ended up with a week off, so I bought the cheapest ticket for the earliest flight, and I ended up in London. I don’t travel for fun, but when I do, I like to see something new every time. So I’m here.” She moved her hair again to be sure it wouldn’t get sticky, and straightened her shoulders. “No particular reason. I’m glad I caught you. I don’t think either of us do much with those meetings.”
“My ultimate sexual fantasy is sleeping in on a Saturday.”

“ oh, come now. that’s just absurd. everyone knows that sleeping in every day is the way to do it! ” as someone who had a reputation for being no less than twenty minutes late to just about any event, iman didn’t exactly have the most credibility in that particular area.
“I wish that was me, but I love working too much, and toddlers wake with the sun. “And I hardly know what to do, anyway, when I wake up late! When do you make dinner if you ate lunch at 11?”

“You can do that any Saturday you please. Paperwork stays asleep as long as you let it; toddlers don’t.” @weisskornblume

“I don’t think that counts”
“The end justifies the means, or whatever, right? I think it’s the closest you’ll get.”

“there are people up before that time. I cannot in good conscience get up later than them”
“Then you need to fix your conscience or break it in the name of kinky sex, if sleeping in is your dream.”
"kinky sex doesn't fix everything, you know"
“No, but sleep might.”
“You really should get more.”

"I have work to do! The house to clean! The dog to walk! The business to manage!"
“All that can be done after 10 A.M. You still choose to get up!”

cupcakes-and-british-tea:
“I will say right, I couldn’t see my brother having one let alone wanting to step foot in here. Too pink.” Replying with a hint of a grin, stepping back away from the counter and disappearing back into the kitchen to prepare the tea and cut the Russian woman a slice. Setting the timer on his phone after prepping the water and tea, humming under his breath before calling out to her. “It will be just a few minutes Miss Masha.”
“Marya Ivanova, please.” She waited patiently and looked through her (replica) Chanel bag full of hard candy and tissues and wet wipes and a tiny picture frame and a couple Polly Pockets in a sandwich bag... but there was nothing calling her attention. And the room was very pink. She’d heard about cafes in Japan doing this to make money and assumed it was more of the same. Oliver was committed to it, but she didn’t think he enjoyed it. Pink was simply a color.
“Oh, I’m sorry Miss Marya! I do apologize, it’s been a bit of a busy day.” Calling back in return, at the least taking the couple of minutes that he had left to check for the small things that he needed to do anyhow. Check how his bread dough from that morning was rising in the fridge, make sure certain thing that he needed were still topped up. Though, he did need to get more of the various types of flour that he used, more honey... Maybe some more chocolate chips to make biscuits later on in the week...
Hearing the alarm, he turned it off before making quick work of pouring her a cup of tea and slicing her a piece of the ice cream cake. He would get himself some tea in a moment. Stepping back out of the kitchen and toward the table where she sat, carefully placing both the plate and the saucer with the tea cup in front of her. “It’s a nice Lady Gray so I hope that will suffice for you.”
Aaaand he’d missed the point again. She’ll have to tell him sometime soon that she didn’t care for “Miss” and the Ivanova filled the hole in the etiquette just fine, but it would be rude to correct him more than once, so she simply waited idly, albeit a bit uncomfortably. It didn’t look well to go see a man in his shop after-hours, did it?
“I’m sure it’s lovely. Thank you.” But, she was determined not to eat until he had. She truly was on her best behavior today, nevermind the unsightly struggle to take off her cardigan while seated.
Once he’d returned, she picked up her fork. “Mm, Oliver, my name is Marya Ivanova, and that way you don’t have to say ‘Miss’. I’m hardly a girl.”

“Isn’t that a little strange? You’re a baker, not an ice creamer.”
It was a turn of phrase so to speak, that’s all. I just had one of my regulars bring this to me as more of a thank you so I could cut you a piece if you would like?
“Bringing a cake to a baker... “ She was skeptical, but she raised her eyebrows up manually. “Sure, I’ll say for a moment.” She’d offer to help, but she was more than confident he was capable of it on his own.
“This sort of thing has happened before, but it never ceases to surprise me when it does. Would you like anything to drink? Tea? Coffee? I have a nice cinnamon coffee right now that would go nicely with the cake if you wanted to try it.” Oliver could hear the skepticism in her voice, not that he minded really. It was just how this neighborhood was, thus when he moved there he never left.
“This is your first time coming in here, isn’t it?”
“Mm, any kind of tea you have will be fine.” She smoothed her skirts and pulled her hair to the front before sitting down, and of course it was then that she wanted to take her cardigan off, so she had to keep rustling around until she was settled, and still wearing a new mock-necked shirt she’d bought. “I guess it is. I knew one of you bunch had a bakery, but I’m not sure why I thought it was Ireland.”

“I don’t please men. Who are you talking about?”
ehrendame:
A small scoff escaped her lips when Masha mentioned Prussia, that Saupreiss. “She is not my sister, just one of the biggest annoyances in my life.” Resi was bitter about her family and she felt insulted that Masha made the faux pas and said that they were related, however, she decided not to scold her for it but just continue with their conversation. She puts her hands on her hips and glares at Masha, “And you’re not fooling me. You are infatuated with Sau—hm, I mean, Prussia, I can see it. It’s the same look I have when Vlad is near. So just ask her out.”
“Mm...” Germans. Her face softened for a moment, just until Romania came into the conversation. “Don’t you dare compare it to whatever you have with Romania,” And wasn’t Therese the wrong German, anyhow? Wouldn’t it make more sense, with the rumors around Austria... ? “-but I’m nowhere near infatuated.”
“Stop being so desperate to please your hot friend.”

“I don’t please men. Who are you talking about?”
"Oh, no. I wasn't referring to men, I was talking about that woman you were pining over earlier?" Resi wasn't an idiot, she knew exactly when someone is pining over someone unattainable and Masha was no exception. "Do you know her, or is she a beautiful stranger?"
“Pining, really? It’s hardly pining to compliment her.” She moved her hair over her shoulder and looked back at Resi with a new scrutiny in her eye. “Of course I know Prussia. It’s your own sister.”

“Your face… is… good.”
your daughter calls me dream daddy too (starters)
“And water is wet,” she teased. It almost sounded as if Marya was being bashful. “I’m kidding - thank you. Where my way with words fails, this face gets me pretty far. Maybe not quite as far, but far enough.”
“I think you’ve gone further than I’ve managed it. Once I went to school, I had no patience for it. I really admire how you deal with them, you know. It’s commonplace but that doesn’t make it easy.”
