Heartwell had gotten a little bit too…crowded.
There was something about encroaching on
other heroes’ territories that the witch just didn’t
care for (even if SHE was technically there first).
It was pretty easy to pack up the one duffle bag
she owned and “jump ship”, however– it was
just finding the right place to jump ship TO that
was the problem.
Lee had decided to stop in Gotham. Lava was
running out of steam, and so was she; it wouldn’t
do the two of them any good to keep pushing on
now. She wasn’t too keen on staying in this city
for long, though… not with the Batman present.
He was too close to the cops, and Lee and the
overwhelming majority of police departments did
not get along.
Ditching her duffle bag behind a dumpster, the
witch left Lava in the (possible) safety of a dark
alleyway and went to “explore”. If she’d be there
for a while, she’d need to know the area. The
blonde, on her toes and ready to pounce if need
be, wandered the back alleys, wand tucked into
her belt just in case. Curiosity killed the cat, after
all. (Did it kill lions, too?)
A sudden noise behind her caused her to whip
around, a bright blue flame shot from her finger-
tips towards the source. Lee didn’t care much
about her aim at this point.
What was strange to Dick was that whenever
he felt stressed by anything, even Bruce and his
excessive hours of (necessary) training, the young
bird boy went off on his own to patrol the city. It
wasn’t something to be seen as stress-relieving,
yet somehow it kept Dick in line, from falling over
the edge that was keeping him sane.
He took his usual route. Sitting on top of Marco’s
Pizza Parlor, continuing down the line of rooftops
until he’d have to use his grappling hook to get to
the top of one of the buildings. He would then hit
the dark alleyways, keeping himself hidden until
his presence needed to be known.
He slowed his jog when he neared one of the
taller buildings. With ease, Dick jumped halfway
between the two buildings, landing safely on the
cement ground of the alleyway. The only light that
illuminated the area was one of the streetlights at
least 50 feet away, showing small puddles on the
ground from the rain earlier that day.
Dick clung to the wall to stay out of any sort of light
that could shine on him. He checked his right, seeing
the open but empty street ahead. Checking his right
into the alley, his eyes widened in surprise.
A horse? He never thought he’d see one of those in
the city. He began to tip-toe over to it, wondering how
it hadn’t heard him yet. It seemed tired, worn out. In
his heart he knew he wanted to help but he wasn’t
too sure how.
It wasn’t until a figure stood up next to it that Dick
knew he had to hide himself better, He pushed his
entire body against the brick wall now, keeping his
breath quiet. The figure began to walk out of the
alley. He let it pass, letting his eyes only trail with it
until it reached the end of the alley. He moved his
shoe just slightly to adjust himself.
He wasn’t as quiet as he was hoping. A ball of blue
fire it seemed rushed past him. His eyes widened
under his mask. A girl’s voice called out into the
darkness. She knew he was there. He couldn’t just
continue to stand there. He stepped out slightly,
letting his foot hit the light.
“Um, your wildest dream?”
