Christmas passed by rather quickly for his liking although he truly enjoyed being around his spouse and family. Mason was taken aback when Laila mentioned telling her parents about hr expecting their first child. Although, the long grudge between the Sanders and Styles have long died down, Mason worried over his father in law’s reaction. Laila was a daddy’s girl in his eyes not everyone would accept the news of their daughter expecting so calmly. Needless to say, he was nervous when the pair arrived to the Sanders’ home to announce the news. All his fears were washed away when her parents accepted the news so warmly. The soon to be grandparents were emotional and excited for their daughter. It wasn’t new to them since their daughters already had children and Laila was the last one to conceive. The remaining days in Laila’s hometown were spent exploring-- more like Laila dragging him off to see the places she enjoyed as a toddler. Laila mentioned telling his parents about the arrival of their child. Mason couldn’t wait to tell his mother about the news. New Years passed by like every other New Year starting in the Jasper and Skyliar’s home and ending with being tangled in the sheets with his beautiful southern belle. First day of the New Year wasn’t anything like he planned it out to be, he woke to an empty bed, a horrid hangover, and so sore from the previous sexual encounters the night before. After freshening up, Mason ambled down the stairs to grab his usual morning coffee and a morning peck from Laila, but he saw his wife and a pup that wasn’t there last night. The curly haired male couldn’t say no to his wife and those big puppy dog eyes of Cleopatra. He was weak against those two. It really made him miss their baby Laison. Laison was irreplaceable. Will he be this weak for his child as well? Giving in so easily? Mason was thankful Laila took care of him in the morning somewhat lessening his hangover as he bonded with their new dog which she nicknamed Cleo. The happy pair chatted about their future with their child. A couple of days later, his mother called him to check up on him and his wife, Mason responded like he would usually answer except he said something which caused his mother to panic. “Mom, I’m okay.” He laughed. “Jasper is fine as well-- Mom!” He called a bit loudly. “I just need you and dad to come visit.” Mason said to his frantic mother. His mother barely gave him any chance to explain before she was ending the call and booking tickets and making reservations. Mason spoke to Laila that night about his phone call with his mother. His mother was truly one of a kind, she showed up to his home in the evening with a hand tightly gripping a suitcase and an arm wrapped around his father as he carried his twin siblings. “When I said I wanted both to visit, I didn’t mean the next day.” His mother shoved him aside and welcomed herself into his home. He didn’t even argue with his exhausted mother and annoyed father. Mason happily greeted his little sister and little brother. His ears perked to his wife’s soft voice, the twins gaze shifted from him to the staircase waiting for their favorite sister in law to show up. “M’fine, baby. My parents are here with thing one and thing two.” He had never seen his wife so excited about seeing the twins again.
The twins ran softly towards Laila as she engulfed them in a huge hug. She showed the twins their new dog as Mason sat down with his parents. He nervously told his parents the news about him and Laila, he expected them to be happy, but his mother squealed rather loudly and ran off towards Laila and his father congratulated him and embraced him so tightly. “Dad, please.. You’re killing me here.” His father laughed and pulled away from the embrace. “Thank you, dad. I’m so happy.” His gaze shifted to Laila and his mother. “Mom, please! She’s with child, be careful.” His mother waved him off and he couldn’t stop the fond smile gracing his lips as he watched the scene unfold. His mother and wife chatting and his twin siblings pressing their little hands to Laila’s flat tummy as Cleo looked fondly at them. Later that night, his mother kissed his cheek and held him as he shed tears over the new addition that would arrive soon. The days seemed to go by faster, days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months when he just stayed home to spend quality time with his expecting wife. Laila was four and a half months pregnant with the cutest baby bump he ever laid his eyes on. He found his wife extremely beautiful, sexy, and cuddly. His thoughts dispersed when his best friend Jenna called. “What’s up, Jenna?” He said, answering the call. “It’s very important, isn’t it?” Mason sighed and agreed to show up to the office. After ending the short call, Mason called his wife whom was decorating their bedroom with frames of their child’s sonograms. “Laila, baby, they want me at the office. I know you have an appointment with the doctor today, I promise you, I won’t miss it but they need me.” Laila nodded, knowing that Mason kept his promises. “I love you, thank you! Bye baby!” He waved goodbye as he saw her retreating figure going back to the bedroom to continue decorating. The meeting took longer than he expected, he was having a mental breakdown next to Jenna. Her reassuring hand on his, calmed his nerves, but he still needed this meeting to pick up the pace. It was as if his sister read his thoughts and began to speak and conjure up ideas for their deal. The Brit was in his own world that he didn’t realize the meeting had ended until his sister placed a hand on his shoulder. “Curly, she just texted me she’s being seen now. Go.” Barbara said, he wordlessly nodded and dashed out of that board room. He could hear Barbara’s laughter as he made his way down the hall and soon out of the building premises. Luck was on his side today, he made it to the hospital in no time despite going over the speed limit down the practically car less roads. He rushed into the room when he heard the sound of his child’s heart beating loudly and normally. “Would you like to know the gender?” The doctor asked, not noticing his presence. “Yes.” He said a bit too loudly, surprising his wife and her doctor. Laila beamed brightly at him as he spouted apologies for being so late. Laila forgave him, his lateness being forgotten as they heard the child’s heart once more and the gender of their child. Mason froze staring at the screen as the little tiny human moved their limbs. That tiny human was their love child, his baby, the owner of half of his heart. Now that he knew the gender it felt so surreal to him, tears stained his flushed cheeks and he squeezed his wife’s hand.
