can you do a hand tutorial that works for various levels of fat, from standard Decker hands to useless, overstuffed blobs? that'd be super helpful
iām going to go into this with the assumption that you are already comfortable drawing hands or know how to build a hand even if your end result isnāt as good as youād like it to be
thereās a million and oneĀ āhow to draw a handā tutorials out there so please seek one out if you dunno what youāre doing for hands. i donāt wanna spend time explaining stuff thatās been explained a million times over
so youāre either drawing hand hands or paw hands, eitherās fine, itās more or less the same process of making either thinner or fatter
this is essentially myĀ ādefault handā, this is a hand with no other context. the reason why iām saying this is because, when i vary the size of the hand, i start from the elbow and work my way down. the thicker the forearm is, the thicker the hand on the end is going to be (at least in my head/style/whatever).
as iām making these hands bigger iām also shifting the proportions. the bigger and clumsier the hand is, the shorter and stubbier the fingers are going to be to exaggerate that. youāll notice thisĀ āhand handā is rapidly approachingĀ āpaw handā proportions - so what happens to a paw hand?
YOU CAN EITHER have the digits slowly seperate from one another as palm size increases, or, have them keep together. having them seperate will present a more dextrous character, keeping them together is less dextrous (and i typically reserve this for weight gain sequences rather than characters that just Are Fat)
now letās look at the actual palms
HERE are all the ingredients you need for a Successfully Chubby Palm
you NEED the little foldy bits around the digits and edges. absolutely need them. itās not a fat hand if thereās no wrinkly foldy bits. this works for feet, all of this works for feet but especially this.
if you want to go as far as āuseless overstuffed blobā,
pump it up in ways that exaggerate the wrinkly foldy bits.
