One of the hardest things to learn as a leftist is that there are a lot self proclaimed leftists that are actually totally cool with abusive social systems, they just don’t like that they’re the ones being abused. The solution to male supremacy isn’t woman supremacy, it’s no supremacy. The supremacy is the bad part. This line of thinking is how you get TERFS and the NOI

i truly think that this recent trend of “if you relate to a post about a different identity than your own you are ~derailing~ and taking over the conversation” is incredibly harmful.

i recently experienced some pretty severe transphobic abuse in my workplace (children’s home) that included having food thrown at me, being called slurs, being told i was a pervert because i am trans. one of the managers talked with me afterwards and shared that he had had a similar experience as an Asian man. this wasn’t him derailing my experience, or talking over me, or making things about himself. he was communicating “hey, i know how it feels and how much it sucks. you’re not alone.”

THAT is what solidarity IS. i don’t know what it’s like to be Asian, he doesnt know what it’s like to be trans, but we both had a similar experience and we were able to turn a horrible experience into an opportunity for bonding and comfort.

stop looking at people’s attempts as solidarity as an attack. and hey, you never know - you could find an opportunity to grow closer to other people.

we can keep doing this all day but the reality of the world is that very few people don’t face any kind of oppression at all and everyone exists in a complicated, intersecting web where they have privileges over some people in some contexts and some others are have privilege over them in other contexts. no one individual is incapable of enacting oppression and if you think that about yourself you need to go away and interrogate that belief.

Wizards should use swords in D&D. I’m not saying “Wizards should be allowed to use swords”, I’m saying that swords should be standard issue for wizards right off the bat. Wizards use wands, and staves are just big wands you can spar with. Wizards use athames, so naturally swords are just big athames you can fence with. Blades have been used in real-world mysticism for millennia. The headlining wizard of high-fantasy, Gandalf, used a sword that his elf friend let him keep as a reward for recovering it by happenstance, and he killed an ancient demon thing with it (a Balrog of Morgoth). And let’s not forget, Excalibur. Merlin, one of the most famous wizards in myth and legend, is tied to a story about a magic sword. He didn’t use it, but he seemed to know a lot about it. Besides, just as historical practitioners of magic used blades in ceremonies, martial artists in medieval feudal Europe would sometimes use a wooden staff in their off-hand to parry their opponent’s weapon. Imagine a wizard using a sword in one hand and their magic staff in the off-hand to parry weapons and shoot fireballs. Swords and wizards are like bread and butter.

And don’t get me started on why swords (but not daggers) should be standard issue for Clerics (not paladins, just plain old Clerics) as well.

transmasculine people face the highest SA and rape rates in the queer community - and it gets played down or dismissed because we're male or male-adjacent.

-> most transmascs can and will be forcibly impregnated when rape occurs

-> we dont have access to abortions.

-> we dont have access to violence/domestic abuse shelters because of our masculinity.

-> we can't go the gyn without being treated like a freak show (because it's a "womans doctor"), or we're dismissed by doctors for being masculine or male.

-> we disproportionately die more of cervical cancer, breast cancer, and other gyn related illnesses and issues than cis women because we're dismissed because we're male/male-adjacent and bascially left to die/rot

-> we're seen as breeding machines and nothing more. the entire panic around irreversible damage is about the ability to reproduce, so the goal is to forcibly detransition us into breeding stock and submissive wifes.

-> we cant even talk about our experiences online and create terminology for it without being accused of being transmisogynists

we are basically being silenced and dismissed with our problems by our own community and told to "shut the fuck up others have it worse than you" bullshit and being treated as ghosts like we dont really exist.

This is transandrophobia.
