My exhibition-area is finally finished..
Then my exhibition-area is ready. Looks a little bit empty, but the focus is supposed to be on what's happening on the screen..
After tutoring on monday I became aware of the back-button on the iPad-version looked a bit too much like a play-button flipped in the wrong direction.. This was a crucial issue because of the placement of this button: back buttons usually are placed on the top left of the screen, but this is on the bottom left. It is therefore important that this is a clear and logical button. As usual the process went something like this: Visual research, sketch and evaluate (evt. test)..
In my opinion this is now a much clearer button and symbol. You can't mix it with a play-button, and it's a pretty conventional version adapted to the rest of the visual style of the app..
The film coming together in Final Cut Pro..
We filmed for the presentation and exhibition yesterday..
A simplification of Wikipedia for desktop for one of my videos where I explain some of the choices I've taken in the process..
Animating. The keyframes are turning me mad.. But soon finished with the loop-video for iPhone..
The storyboard for iPhone.. In progress..
Just to prove a point regarding pixels that fits the pixelgrid vs pixels that don't. The upper version shows icons just placed into the document, the lower version shows version hinted to fit the pixelgrid.. The difference is especially clear on straight lines f.ex. on the top of the calendar, and the lines inside the circle..
(Hope it is clear on the site as well, and that tumblr don't scale the images.. :P) Probably a good idea to click on the image to view it in its right format.. :)
Hooray! Finished with the video i Storyboarded for iPad.. Well almost.. There is a lot of timing-perfection left, as well as implementing something that is interacting with the interface..
Now it's time to make a storyboard for the iPhone-version. Right on schedule! ;)
The problem: the menu items "links" and "references" in the menu behave differently than the other items: these are on/off states. But it's not enough space to use the default on/off sliders.. Solution: Make the whole button a big slider. Thanks to Robin for the idea!
The visuals for my app is mostly finished. Working on the presentation-video now, and made a new visual for how it's going to look when you come to the end in an image-sequence..
No resting even though the written part is finished. Now everything needs to be polished and ready to the presentation in about 19 days..
Storyboard for the video to present the app on the iPad above..
My written thesis was handed in today about 5 hours ago. I wrote about the printed part earlier, but I felt I needed a blogpost to promote the real version.
You can read it on:
http://mhauken.no/master/
(it's by the way responsive)
I wasn't completely pleased with the «swipe to see content»-button I had earlier, so I made something more subtle today.. It's supposed to be animated, so it's will be visible even though it is subtle..
The written part is finally finished and printed! If I had a choice I would have chosen to not hand in a printed version, but just the web-version.. Unfortunately the school is a slow ship to steer, so the rules can't be changed. But I've done my best to communicate that the real written part is on internet. Here is a rough translation of the text I've presented on stickers on the printed version:
Hi! It would actually be nice if you didn't open this book. My main delivery of the written part can be visited at http://mhauken.no/master/
There you can see the real, interactive written part with videos etc, and not a static, printed version like this..
