“The difficult part of the movie was that, physically, it was so demanding. There was this chase scene in the middle of the summer, in the middle of night where I couldn’t see out of my mask, and that scene took forever to shoot. Just generally, the demand of doing a movie where you’re shooting 12 or 16 hours a day, seven days a week and it’s 100 degrees — I think that was the worst part for me. It was just a grueling shoot. Marilyn Burns said, when she finished the shoot — when we finished the shoot — she ran home, climbed in the bathtub, and just cried for two days. I think that’s how everybody felt. Leatherface doesn’t cry, but still.”
Gunnar Hansen (March 4, 1947 – November 7, 2015)
31 Days of Halloween — THE BIRDS (dir. Aflred Hitchcock / 1963)
I have never known birds of different species to flock together. The very concept is unimaginable. Why, if that happened, we wouldn’t stand a chance! How could we possibly hope to fight them?
Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

31 Days of Halloween — THE HAUNTING (dir. Robert Wise / 1963)
When people believed the earth was flat, the idea of a round world scared them silly. Then they found out how the round world works. It’s the same with the world of the supernatural. Until we know how it works, we’ll continue to carry around this unnecessary burden of fear.
“Nothing in nature is terrifying when one understands it. My father drew that very lightning from heaven and forced it for his own will to bring life to a being he created with his own hands. Why should we fear anything?” Son of Frankenstein (Rowland V. Lee, 1939)
“Free… Free forever! Free to live as a woman. Free to take my place in the bright world of the living, instead of among the shadows of the dead.” Dracula’s Daughter (Lambert Hillyer, 1936)
“The werewolf is neither man nor wolf, but a Satanic creature with the worst qualities of both.” Werewolf of London (Stuart Walker, 1935)
