the swamp witch grumbles, muttering things that are not enchanting by any means, but that quiet the bogs nonetheless. roots appear to grow from her spine, mangled little things that reach for the shrubbery caked in moss && mud all around her. twigs adorn her hair, her arms, her legs as though she were not a witch, but a sprite from the wilds. born and bred for the dirt and water. she steps across the swampland as though the ripples and soft-tides do not halt her. as though she were only tiptoeing over dark clouds threatening to bring thunder && rain, and not all the dead that washed in from the shore. the neck were a damp and strange place. an oddity by any measure, and she were no different from it. annila halted herself immediately, receding the roots from her back til they disappeared like ghosts between walls and rib cage, staring plainly at the girl. were she not a flower blooming between clay and rubble? ❝ you lost, girl? ❞ @gildedthorn | ❤️’d
