Was born in Texas, to two young parents. Wasn’t a good environment for the young boy, who witnessed a lot of yelling and fighting, as well the selling of drugs. in which, he learned to sell early on in his life.
When he was fourAfter, the family would become a family of four, a little brother joining the family named Luis.
In 1995, his mother would say that enough was enough, and try to leave with her sons. This would be the night she was murdered by her husband, and Matias and his brother would be forced to help bury the body. For years, the town people just thought their mother had left them.
At 15 years old, Matias’s father would be arrested in a line of murders. This would be made public news that his father was, in fact, a serial killer. And that the night with his mom wasn’t the only time.
Matias and his brother would bounce around foster care, up until Matias’ graduation. He tried to get through to it, so that he could take his brother and get out of that town. However, his brother would start hanging around the wrong people. His brother would go on to die from an overdose.
After receiving his diploma, Matias would leave Texas, dropping his father’s last name, and keeping Cortes. He’d go on to serve in the military for 2 years. His second year, he’d decide not to reenlist, but to go into law enforcement.
For ten years, he would climb his way up the ladder, becoming a well respected cop. He was proving himself good, nothing like his bloodline.
It would be a case, in which, he came across a sadistic killer, who would target him and his, and in the end, he’d lose his fiancé and unborn child. This would send him into an angry cop trope. Doing nothing to stop until he found the man who did this.
Eventually, he would. A year into the case, he’d finally haunt the man down, but instead of taking him in, he had executed the man. This being the end of his career. Leaving honorably, as his partner and his team covered up that fact, he, himself, couldn’t do it anymore. He loved the job for so long, but he couldn’t carry the demons anymore that came with it.
He would find himself drinking more, and getting into his creativity. How he ended up with a tattoo gun in his hand, he’s not sure. But it ended up there, and it hasn’t left. There’s something comforting in the art, and he’s quite good.
He hasn’t been in Providence Peak for that long, but it is somewhere he has decided to make a new life in.

He has a german shepherd named Kabel, and he absolutely love this dog.
Life has continually shown him the worst of it, but he does still find himself longing for connection and happiness. Despite fearing that life is always gonna deal him a crap hand.
Has been attending therapy for over a year, and it’s been helping a little, but still finds the gym, pleasure of the flesh, and drinking a little more helpful.
Covered in tattoos, and loves getting them, as they do come off very therapeutic for him.
Sleeps with a knife under his pillow, and a gun in the nightstand. Always on guard, he could take the agent out of town, but he couldn’t take the agent out of him.
Enjoys photography, and art as a whole. It’s very calming to him.
Has a thing for vintage cars.
