Okay, seriously, how? Why? They separated later that year.... I'm lost

Just saying this to the void, really: I am glad that Meryl Streep and Martin Short are happy together and obviously having fun.

However, I can't get over Meryl's and Don's separation. Absolutely ridiculous, I know. I don't know either of them personally, I have absolutely no clue what their life was like beyond what the cameras captured, and I know it's none of my business. I guess, in my clinically depressed, mentally ill brain I projected, I had them pictured as the perfect couple, the perfect parents, the perfect family. The couple that would be forever. And now that they aren't, I am heartbroken.

Looking for a story (again *sigh*) -Star Trek this time!

I read this one years if not decades ago (yes, I feel old). It's a back story of Beverly Crusher and could be a novel. I think it was called "Arvada III". The story is about Beverly's life in the colony and the catastrophe that happened there. It probably also P/C in the end. If I remember correctly the author sent it to Gates McFadden at the time who actually read it and liked it.

Does anyone know/remember/have this story?

Devil Wears Prada/ Mirandy

I have no clue what the overall plot is but there is one scene I remember:

Andy spent (I think) the weekend with Miranda at the townhouse. In the morning she says something about an expensive restaurant or similar and Miranda is offended because Andrea doesn't understand/ respect her wealth. Andy tells her how mind-blowing it is to go from eating ramen to Miranda's world without anything in between and tells Miranda that no one has made her as happy or hurt her as much. She then goes upstairs to pack and as she leaves Miranda breaks down and cries "don't leave me"

You were seated in the front row next to Miranda as you watched the winter collections of numerous designers pass by you on the runway. As Miranda fixated on the models and the clothes, she placed a hand softly on your knee, leaning in close to you. All of your attention was now solely on her.

"You look stunning in that dress I bought you, but once we're done here, I think I’m going to like it a whole lot more when it’s off."

Of course, you couldn’t react to her comment, not so publicly, anyway, so you simply bit your lip. Of course this only got you a wicked smirk from Miranda. For the rest of the fashion show, you couldn’t concentrate on a single part of it. All that swam through your head was thoughts of what would take place afterwards.
