En långsam rörelse mellan platser / A slow movement between places 2025 - 10
Exhibition with MASU at Galleri Konstepidemin, Gothenburg.
(Material) Site Recordings is a site investigation through materials. The project consists of 5000 wooden laths, 180 cm long, which we connect with cable ties to temporary structures and which we move between different locations.
The project started in 2018 through a residency within Art InsideOut in Halmstad where we built in the city center for three weeks. After that, we have moved the material at irregular intervals in relation to exhibitions and other projects. We were part of LandArt exhibitions in Ängelholm for two years, an exhibition on ecology at Ystad Monastery twice, an exhibition in the garden of the Gathenhielmska House (Gothenburg) and within the artistic research project “Shimmer and Entanglements” we established a Forest Lab in a forest in Skene where we worked for three years until the summer of 2024. We have also worked with workshops within the project at the “Malmö Festival” and with several different student groups from HDK-Valand and other art schools and during the summer of 2024 and 2025 we participated in the Årstads mycket tillfälliga konsthall exhibition with part of the project.
The work is slow and by building with the same material in different places we investigate spaces and relationships where the batten functions both as a form and as a collector of stories and environments.
The material handling itself; carrying and building, offers a kind of gravity for the work that makes us return, continue, and find ourselves in places for a longer time. Over the years, this has generated a number of different thought and material traces that move out from the spatial work itself. These involve drawings, objects, conversations, texts and publications, as well as relationships to the places we have worked in and those who inhabit them, both humans and more-than-humans.
The focus of the exhibition A Slow Movement Between Places at Galleri Konstepidemin is the different material movements and traces that the project has generated in the spaces between. We investigate a situation where collaboration, objects, drawing and repetition build an ecosystem where all parts become voices in the same ongoing story.
