Hands down my favorite moment on harry potter was that memory that Snape was 9 years old, friendless, we not even sure this kid was properly taught to socialize; saw Lily, the first child who was like him, spend a lot of time just looking, thinking about the perfect thing to say to make friends and his dumb ass does this:

SNAPE. What you imagined he’d sound like when you read the books initially.
Thinking back to the first time I ever read Harry Potter, I remember Rowling described his first appearance and his manner of speaking in that scene which was basically a whisper that commanded the attention of everyone in the room. I always imagined him having a low, subtly spiteful voice. Alan Rickman’s voice for him was really good, but I didn’t picture him being that nasally when I read it. Anyways, this is probably how I first imagined him sounding like.
Snape Appreciation Month (Day 16 and 19)
Favorite Trait/Costume Appreciation
I’m combining these two because one of the things I’ve always loved about Snape, and admired, is his level of control. He takes up occlumency and uses it to control himself. He insists Harry control his emotions. He keeps himself in absolute control, losing it from time to time. But like … control is something he has to have in his life. And I think it falls upon much of his past and the lack of control he had. I absolutely love this trait because it’s one he’s learned to master and use to his advantage. And I feel like this was one of the things expressed in the way he dressed.
I do not own any of the GIFs used, I found them utilizing the gify site and google. I claim no credit to their making and would credit the makers if I knew. I utilized GIFs because I think they best display not just his dress but the way he controls his movements and his expressions and every aspect of who he is.
