Max had mentioned his show being on Saturday. It had been a long while since Blaine had been out to see his brother play, and though he never really felt like he belonged at a show like that, it somehow felt right to him to be there. Anyone who knew both of them would know that this was one thing they had in common- performing. It was like it was in their blood, even if their respective genres were at almost the furthest opposite ends of the spectrum.
It wasn’t the show, though, that had really sold the night for Blaine. It was the fact that he was going to get to actually sit down and talk to Max. Over a drink. Something that had been at the back of Blaine’s mind for so long, and finally was happening. He tried to seem less out of place as he approached the bar, but somehow, he knew that his neat curls and pressed polo shirt gave him away, regardless of the jeans he tried to pull off.
His heart was about to leap out of his chest; he was so nervous and anxious and excited. Here it was. This was it. With an unavoidably huge smile on his face, he found the seat at the bar that was next to his twin brother. “Hey!” he greeted, over the dozens of voices around them. Oh, god, he wanted to hug him, but he knew Max wasn’t about that kind of thing, so he resisted and sat down, too politely ordering a Captain and Coke with lime before fully turning his attention over to the other. “You were so great up there!”
It seemed the other had chosen to show up the second his back was turned, and if he wasn’t used to the chipper man from his lifetime alongside him he would’ve been taken off guard a tad. He raises a hand to the tender to catch his attention while he made Blaine’s drink, making it clear to the man that anything the two would order would be on Max’s tab. He then turns towards the other in his chair and picks his drink up, carrying it with him and taking a long sip.
“Nice to see you enjoyed yourself,“ Max chuckled, though he wasn’t too surprised. When his brother used to come to his gigs he looked enthused. Couldn’t sing along if he tried to but still ever supportive.

Um, sort of. I wanted to tell you about my job because not everyone seems to understand it. Anyway, I’m a drag queen and I get paid to go around New York and perform and act.

It wasn’t difficult for Max to get himself wrapped up in the thrill of it all, adrenaline pumping through his veins as the final song had come to an end. Manson, Say Anything, Our Last Night... Each song flowed into the next and had the crowd on fire and pleading for more - something Max was more than willing to give to them. All spectacular nights had to come to an end, however, and even as people asked him for an encore he knew when to quit. His eyes were growing tired and his chest was moving to the beat of the drums behind him, signalling it was time for him to take to the bar and simmer down. He pulled himself off the stage and over to his typical seat, ordering a Long Island Iced Tea from the bar and allowing his ever moving hands to rest on the counter.
Even though he was exhausted both physically and mentally from such a high energy state all night he couldn’t bring his eyes to close - no, not with such pressing matters at hand. His brother was within the crowd of clubgoers and was to be joining him at the bar in but a moment, should he choose to take the risk. Max had seen Blaine among the group - ever so out of place yet still having decided to keep his word. Good thing too, it would’ve been damn awkward had he chosen to stay home.
“Keep your eyes out for a guy that looks like me but preppier,“ Max joked to the bartender, though he knew it was unnecessary. He on his own would be hawkeyed for his twin, making sure he didn’t chicken out and bail right after the gig had ended. The look of confusion on the tender’s face helped ease a bit of tension, giving an amused chuckle as he didn’t quite understand Max’s description.

Max: It's just going to kill me if it hurts you more than keeping you away would. I need to know that. I need to know if it'd fuck you up more to see me like that or to not have me around at all.

Blaine: Even if it is that, where you should just accept it, it doesn't mean that we can't fix the future. I haven't really thought about the future because who knows if I'm even going to get one, but lately I have been thinking about it. I mean like, because of Kane, and I know you don't like him and I'm sorry for bringing him up but like, he's made me think about like, what if I get married or something, and like, how I'd want you to be there.
Blaine: It's just like
Blaine: Your diagnosis is an obstacle, and a really hard one, but it's one we could work through together.
Blaine: Max, I forgive you for all of it. For anything. You mean so much to me, you're so important.
Max: You're important to me too, Blaine. Fuck, it's pissed me off so much how shitty I've been to you.
Max: I just don't want you to see me when I start shitting myself, and getting hospitalized over a cold. And having to rely on meds to have an immune system worth a damn. It scares the shit out of me how much that's going to kill you.
