During his youth on the Boiling Isles, Phillip found it difficult to find food that was edible for him, but through trial and error he quickly found several types of food. It wasn't much, but it was enough for him. That was before he found Caleb. However, over the years, eating palismans changed him, even if he didn't find out about it right away. In hungry times, long before he met Luzura the Crab Maiden, he wanted to fill his stomach so much that he attacked beast demon. Standing over the torn and bloody corpse, he realized that something had changed.
In his entire life, he had eaten a lot of creatures that ran, flew, or swam on the Boiling Isles and the surrounding area. He can easily claim that the only creatures that weren't in his stomach were the Titan and the Collector, because the former couldn't walk on his own body, and the latter was trapped in a mirror.
So Phillip takes food very seriously and cooks well. Because of that, shortly after he started living in Noceda's house, Phillip asked Camila to let him help her with cooking. Camila was surprised, but agreed that she needed help. Phillip was able to surprise her by the fact that after a couple of minutes he was quite adept at handling the kitchen, already knowing what was where, and using kitchen appliances quite quickly.
Gus was the first to try Belos's cooking, and then the others began to eat hesitantly and they all liked it. Luz suspected that this was part of some sneaky plan. However, Belos soon stopped just helping Camila and started cooking on his own, sometimes preparing dishes from other countries. He can also tell interesting facts about food or stories related to different dishes, and even Luz can ask questions if she doesn't understand something or finds something interesting, although she would never say it out loud.
