It was exciting to make a proper reference sheet for a character design, and I got to try out several new tools for this project. I believe I also took my design in a rarer direction than most gijinkas for this Pokémon (dancer rather than kickboxer) while still paying homage to his initial inspirations. Thank you to @dotzines for putting together this huge Pokéjinka zine project, and happy Pokémon day!

2025 was such a weird year for my art: a few huge projects, a few smaller staples, and a lot of absence. I focused more on cartoon + comic styling, pushing my poses, and learning to use several new technological options. Oh, and that last sketch? I can only show the old WIP stages right now, but that project will be out soon 👀

Blogiversary the Seventh

Well, hello there! Long time no see, right? Despite me being away more from tumblr and my art, my 7th year here has still brought me a couple of art milestones, both financial and otherwise. Within the last year, I:

completed a big ol’ logo refresh commission, which got me technically profitable for 2024, and even more so for 2025! 🤑🎊

kicked things off in Q1 with two AGE projects of two lovely red tieflings

remembered to do Hourly Comics Day (finally!!)

made my first sale (but not payout…) on RedBubble

painted some dream/vision art here and there

emptied my Art Fight revenge backlog and had it refilled again anyway 🥰

and drew a smattering of fan art, both on its own (hello, revived wip from last year!) and in events like the Melanin Beam Challenge and my mandala ‘tober

I didn’t get around to most of my ambitions from last year’s blogiversary post; I’ve been tightly focused on my personal health & wellness journey and helping friends through some tough times, and there’s still a ways to go before all of that settles. But in between it all, I still got to make some art that brought me joy!

Currently, I’m wrapping up a zine piece and working on another group project. Earlier this year, I finished a two-year D&D campaign and started another, with a few other small TTRPG adventures in the midst, so I’d really love to create & update some more character art for myself in the near-ish future! Going forward more generally, I plan to keep releasing my perfectionism and instead peacefully acknowledging that I Cannot Do It All.

Shout out to my 175 followers and to my support networks, both IRL and online! For this next year, may we remember that community and growth are worth the discomfort; let us continue to both give and receive helping hands so that we can stand together, stronger in unity.
