Longtime FINRA Exec Susan Axelrod Announces Departure
A New York-based financial services firm, Maxim Group, LLC, works with a diverse clientele that includes corporations, institutional investors, and high net worth individuals. Maxim Group maintains membership in several organizations, including the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). After nearly three decades serving FINRA and its predecessor, NYSE Regulation, Susan F. Axelrod announced that she is leaving the organization to pursue opportunities in the private sector. Axelrod has been with FINRA since the nonprofit was created in 2007. For the last four years, she has managed a team comprising over 1,400 people nationwide as the group’s vice president of regulatory operations. Under her leadership, FINRA has advanced a number of major initiatives focused on cybersecurity, money laundering, investor protection, and other areas of concern. She also helped establish key regulatory partnerships and assisted in creating the annual FINRA Women’s Leadership Forum. Axelrod will vacate her current position on January 5, 2018. After stepping down, she will serve in an advisory role through the end of April to help FINRA CEO and president Robert Cook transition leadership and direct strategic issues.
