max & charlie // celebrating like adults
Rolling through the door, Max was glad to be home at a reasonable hour. Her new job was great, to an extent, but the hours always seemed to be longer than they were supposed to. Tonight was important though, and Max left at 6pm on the dot – she had dinner plans with Charlie.
Technically, they were going out for Charlie's birthday, something low key, given the rough time they'd recently had, but they were also taking the opportunity to catch up. Despite living together, they hadn't been crossing paths too often, save for hectic rushing around in the mornings, fighting over the bathroom. Still, it didn't leave too much room for chit-chat.
“Hey, Charlie Brown – are you here?” Max checked the time; they still had well over an hour before they had to think about leaving. Plenty of time to get ready. Waiting for a response from Charlie, Max started to hastily rummage through her clothes, looking for a clean shirt to change into.
