Golden Globes Winners 2011: 'The Social Network' Leads With Four
 The 68th Annual Golden Globes we held earlier this evening and the big winner was 'The Social Network,' which took home four awards, including Best Motion Picture - Drama. The award was presented to producer Scott Rudin by Michael Douglas, who received a standing ovation for his surprise appearance following successful cancer treatment.
'The Social Network' also took home the awards for Best Director, which went to David Fincher (pictured), as well as Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.
In the major acting categories, Colin Firth won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for his turn as England's King George VI in 'The King's Speech,' while fellow favorite Natalie Portman won the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for her role as a disturbed ballerina in 'Black Swan.'
Earlier, Annette Bening won the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for her role in 'The Kids Are All Right,' which also won the award for Best Motion Picture - Comedy of Musical.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the evening was Paul Giamatti's win for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for his role in 'Barney's Version.' Johnny Depp, of course, was nominated twice in the category, for 'The Tourist' and 'Alice in Wonderland,' which may have ended up harming his chances by splitting the vote.
'The Fighter' won awards in the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture categories, respectively, for Melissa Leo and Christian Bale respectively.
'Toy Story 3' took home Best Animated Feature, while 'Burlesque' earned a Golden Globe in the Best Original Song category for 'You Haven't Heard the Last of Me,' one of two tunes from the movie to earn a nomination.
'In a Better World' won the Best Foreign Language Film award for Denmark, defeating the Javier Bardem feature 'Biutiful,' which has recently received a highly publicized push from Bardem cohort Julia Roberts.
In the television categories, the biggest winner was 'Glee,' with three awards, including Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy. Jane Lynch took home the trophy for Actress in a Supporting Role - Television and the always adorable Chris Colfer beat out an assortment of heavyweight contenders for the honor of Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Television.
HBO's period drama 'Boardwalk Empire' also earned two of the most prestigious awards of the night: Best Television Series - Drama and Best Actor in a Television Series for star Steve Buscemi.
Katey Sagal, meanwhile, earned the trophy for Best Actress in a Television Series - Drama for her role in the popular FX biker series 'Sons of Anarchy,' while Laura Linney won the Best Actress in a Television Series - Comedy for 'The Big C.'
The 'Glee' award train was derailed in the Best Actor in a Television Series - Comedy category, as 'The Big Bang Theory's' Jim Parsons won the award, denying Matthew Morrison's attempt to make it a 'Glee' three-peat (or would that be a 'Gleepeat?') in the acting categories.
The award for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television went to award favorite Al Pacino for his role as the infamous Dr. Jack Kevorkian in the HBO film 'You Don't Know Jack.' It was Pacino's 15th Golden Globe nomination. The award for Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, meanwhile, went to Claire Danes for 'Temple Grandin.'
The award for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television went to 'Carlos,' a bit of a surprise as 'The Pacific' (which won at the Critics' Choice Awards earlier this weekend) and HBO's 'Temple Grandin' were considered the frontrunners for the category.
And as previously announced, Robert De Niro was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for contributions to cinema. Matt Damon presented the award to a punchy De Niro, who thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press while still managing to get in a couple digs at them for their negative reviews of 'Little Fockers.' He also launched a few jokes about Homeland Security and the current immigration debate that were met with a mix of nervous laughter and murmuring from the audience. The whole speech was a reminder of just how different the Golden Globes are from the stodgier Oscars.
This year's ceremony is being hosted by funnyman Ricky Gervais, who let loose with his trademark no-holds-barred hosting style, taking sharp jabs at both 'The Tourist' and 'Sex and the City 2' in the first minute of his opening monologue.
He also provided one of the highlights of the early going with his line, "Please welcome Ashton Kutcher's Dad, Bruce Willis!" Willis didn't seem too amused, though the crowd was later moved nearly to tears by Robert Downey, Jr., who introduced the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical category with a long comedy routine suggesting he had slept with all of the nominees.
