I heard. I thought it was all very strange. As soon as Gabe leaves, shit happens. I didn't want to intrude on Piper as I'm sure she had tens of thousands of cohorts building a wall around her now. Why did she switch? Not that I care much. Just wondering. You see, as a promise to Gabe -- I still keep myself at a an arm's length from this type of business.

Pick Me Up | Kyle & Macey

She smiled back and took the towel from him, suddenly feeling a flush of embarrassment as she came down from her high, or at least she figured that was what was making her feel so groggy, “Thanks,” she said with a tiny laugh before stepping out and into the towel, “Ready,” she said in a soft voice and chatter in her teeth.

The warmth brought a heavy sigh from Macey which was followed by a small squeak when he lifted her, the blonde not expecting it. She resisted the urge to curl further into him to warm herself further. As her feet were soon back on the floor, she moved to where he had laid out some clothes, “This is perfect.”

After the pajama pants and NYU t shirt were on, Macey dried her hair slightly with the towel in her hand before sitting down on her bed, “I’m so sorry I bothered you. I’m such an idiot for trusting that guy…I’m in idiot for even talking to him in the first place.”

Having given her space to change, he returned and sat at the edge of her bed as she cleared up from her high. Listening to her, his anger at her situation before disintegrated. "No, Mace. He's the idiot for giving you the wrong stuff. I don't know why people do that." He huffed, thinking about Gabe. "But there is one thing...why did you feel you needed Xanax?" Maybe he sounded like a broken record player. He felt like he asked this before. And maybe he even knew the answer. But he wasn't about to play guessing games. He was just glad she was getting better. "I mean, we don't have to talk about it." He motioned to her night stand. "Water. You might want to drink some of it. I also brought extra blankets for if you get a bout of coldness, and there's some snacks for you to munch on." Finally, he let out a little grin. "How'd your first high feel?" he teased.

Well… I’m not going to lie that does sounds pretty awesome. But I mean… being a mayoral candidate is kind of a big deal too. Who knows? Maybe you’ll pull a kitten out of a burning building and turn into Batman. That would make you a bit cooler, I think. Oh, how you flatter me.

I gotta be honest, I’m not even sure if I’m allowed to leave the city. I don’t got a desk job though, but I’m pretty sure my boss wouldn’t be too kind with giving me a vacation.

Pick Me Up | Kyle & Macey

"Sir yes sir," she mumbled before stepping under the warm water, the feeling of it nearly indescribable. She didn’t bother washing her hair or body, her arms becoming too tired to barely be able to lift to reach one of her bottles.

It didn’t take long before it became to cold for her, Macey turning off the water and sticking her head out to look for a towel. When her usual one wasn’t there she huffed, “Kyle!?” she called out his name and stayed where she was, her right mind slowly coming back. Slipping and cracking her head open wasn’t the best thing. Especially trying to explain to the nurses you had ‘accidentally’ taken ecstasy, “I need a towel!”

The moment he heard her shout, he was flying down the hallway back to the bathroom. He found her with her head poking out of the shower curtains. He smiled softly and stepped forth to hand her the towel. "It must've fallen, or run away. Damn towel." He closed his eyes and held out the towel for her. He stepped closer to the shower so she wouldn't have to struggle with walking so much. "Just step forward and tell me when you're ready."

He curled her in the towel and picked her up off the shower and carried her to her room. Letting her go, he placed his hands on his hips. "I uh...your clothes are on your bed. Hope they're okay. I'm not the best at picking out outfits."

Well I suppose you’ve got a point there, Charming. Fine… I’ll go out with you.

Yeah? And I get to tell mine that I went out with the fucking valedictorian of Brown University and detective of New York. How much cooler can I get? I think this moment is the cherry on top.

Well… I can’t really say no to someone who very well may be the next mayor of New York, can I?

Macey barely noticed when she was placed back on the couch, the girl trying to focus on the music and her hands began rubbing together on their own accord. It was bringing a strange calmness to her. When he cupped her chin, her eyes were barely able to focus on him, “I told you I don’t know,” she said in a quiet tone, her hands beginning to rub along her thighs. Why did that feel so good?

Macey laughed when Kyle told her she had taken ecstacy, “That makes total sense,” she couldn’t even be bothered by it, she was beginning to truly feel the effects….the one’s that made her mind clear of all the negative, including Gabe, “Some guy that knew Gabe,” her body began saying to the music and she frowned before leaning toward him, “You’re asking too many questions….”

The warmth of his body was soon gone and Macey frowned, but stayed where she was. Her legs felt almost like weights, the thought of moving far from her mind. Barely noticing his hand, she blinked a few times before taking it and slowly standing, allowing him to guide her to the bathroom.

On their way there, one of Macey’s hands slid along his arm, “Your skin is so soft Kyle,” she hummed but Macey flinched when she hit the light in the bathroom. Turning it off, the only light there was a candle, the girl not even caring that Kyle was there as she stripped down to only her underwear. Macey wrapped her arms around Kyle’s waist and sighed, pressing her face against his chest, clearly not in her right mind, “Thank you for coming Kyle,” she said softly, “You’re so good to me.”

Even though Macey giggled, Kyle was not enjoying this. He couldn't believe she had done what she did. But maybe a little part of him could. After-all, she had been in love with his brother. He just felt bad that she was in this situation. He knew she was so much better than this minor set-back. He really was asking too many questions. He knew everything he asked wouldn't get through really well. Not right now. But the fact that he could keep her talking was good. He felt better knowing that she hadn't blacked out. The shower was going to help too. It had to. This was the only solution he really knew at the moment. He had never had to do something like this before. Hopefully he wouldn't have to again, but Macey was a good friend and he'd help her out of millions of things. 

Kyle understood that right now Macey was not lucid. She wasn't herself. So he knew not to take her actions personally, but he also didn't want to deflect harshly and make her upset. In this state, rationality is not at the forefront of comprehension. So when she slid her hands down his arm, he just kept guiding her into the bathroom. When she stripped down, he made sure to look just at her face and nowhere else. It was the appropriate thing to do. When she wrapped her arms around him, he didn't reciprocate at first. Realizing the unfamiliarity of the situation, it took him a second to get a grip on what was going on. Well, what did he expect? She had to strip down in order to shower. Softly, he wound his arms around her shoulders and hugged her gently -- careful not to squeeze her too tight into him. 

"Your welcome Macey, now get in the shower please...it'll do you some good. I'll be right outside if you need anything. I've laid your towel on the sink here. I'll go find you your PJs." After making sure she had safely maneuvered into the shower box, he left in search of more things to comfort her.

I can’t help it, I just want to be able to close every case… Time off? What is that exactly? I suppose a night might be okay, though. 

Hm.. Maybe. I’m not sure I have my mechanics phone number though.

Kyle: I'd like that. I'll be sure to do that. For the record, you can drop by whenever too.

Yes, I suppose it does. But I’d rather that my head didn’t feel like it was going to depart from my neck…

You work too hard. There's nothing wrong with it, by the way. But if it leads you to splitting headaches, maybe you should take some time off. At least for the night.

Maybe with someone who knows how to fix cars...
