To whom it may concern,
We want to take a moment to address the concerns about our delayed announcement of
the 2013 Dillo Day nighttime headliner. As with everything else Mayfest and
programming-related, our goal is to entertain and engage the student body, and we want
to take this as an opportunity to deeply apologize for the lack of information regarding
our nighttime headliner.
Our main focus as an organization is to cater to the needs of the student body in a final
celebration of the end of the school term, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration
that everyone is currently feeling.
Rest assured, we are doing absolutely everything in our power to announce our headliner
and finalize contracts as soon as we possibly can. We have been working tirelessly for the
past weeks to make sure that this information comes to you as swiftly as possible, while
balancing our mission to protect the safety and integrity of the University—we apologize
that the process has not been more transparent.
As most of you know, due to Northwestern’s legal standards and processes, we cannot
announce artists until the contracts have been agreed upon and signed by both parties (the
artist’s representatives and the University). We are grateful to our advisors and the
Northwestern legal department, who have worked alongside us in expediting this process
to ensure that Dillo Day is safe and enjoyable.
We are in the final stages of the contract process and will have an announcement
tomorrow afternoon (specific time TBA). This year’s contract process has been uniquely
demanding; please know that we would not be waiting this long to announce unless we
had absolutely no other choice.
Because the headlining slot is brought to us in association with the Residential Hall
Association (RHA), we will be making our announcement through their Facebook, so
please direct yourself to their page by “liking” it and you will receive the most up to date
information about our nighttime artist. Once again, please accept our deepest apologies
for this delay. We still intend on having a kick-ass day on Saturday and we cannot wait to
see you all roll out onto the lakefill to party-down with us. We could not be more excited
about our current lineup; we have the utmost confidence that this year’s festival will be
fantastic. Thank you all so much for your patience and trust.
Here’s to Dillo 2013.
