Stances:

Anticensorship, not pro-fiction. I do not agree with profic/proship stances. I do not want to talk about or hear about anything glorifying or romanticizing topics such as abuse, incest, etc.

I support xenogenders and have used such labels in the past.

I do not support radqueers.

This blog is safe for endogenic systems, or those who use similar terms.

As I am currently reporting on the situation involving the Roblox game, Pressure, I have always been firmly on Ren's side.

I don't have specific names in mind at the moment, but the song could be replaced with:

A different song about the birth a young girl, particularly one without the cultural meaning that Isn't She Lovely? carries

A song about a more metaphorical rebirth

To go along with the direct meaning of the scene (narratively), a song about who someone could have been had they not made the decisions they did

To be vague, a song connected with femininity or struggles related to gender and dysphoria that isn't overt

To be more direct, a song about accepting one's identity, or a song about accepting your femininity

*A song which refers to Jax as 'she' that can't be mistaken to be referring to Pomni

A song about how hiding things inside can feel suffocating

As the scene was a reference to 'I Saw the TV Glow,' perhaps a song that sounds similar to the movie's soundtrack?

It doesn't have to be a preexisting song. In my opinion, it would have been really impactful for an original song tailored especially for Jax to have been written.

On the whole 'intrusive thoughts vs fantasies' thing with Jax,

It's... Not intrusive thoughts. It's probably fantasies. And those in defense of Jax will react really strangely to that? They'll call you like... idk ableist or something for seeing that.

I was thinking on this for a moment. In my humble opinion, if you attribute a character fantasizing about bad things to immediately mean "irredeemable and a terrible person with malice in their soul", I think... you might actually be the one who needs to check yourself?

Just because it doesn't fit the definition of intrusive thoughts doesn't mean it's not also related to Jax's poor mental health. If you really want to defend Jax by saying she's complex and nuanced or whatever, stop denying crucial parts of her character.

And that wasn't the problem. The problem is that Jax not only abuses the cast consistently, never showing any motivation to change or grow, who only seemed to get worse as the series goes on..... is also revealed to fantasize about doing even worse. If Jax were actually a sympathetic character who didn't treat everyone else like trash to deal with her own problems, who didn't drive two people to suicide and likely would have led others down the same path, who didn't invade the private / safe spaces of her victims and held personal matters (such as their trauma or interests) above their head to intimidate them, who didn't force others to fit into her false worldview that resulted from her own traumas and thus dehumanized them, if she this, if she that, then perhaps you could defend it as her merely being a flawed person. But she's more than a flawed person. She's an abuser. And there's nothing wrong with enjoying a character who is cruel or selfish, literally no one is saying that, but stop bending over backwards to justify her actions.

#Not to mention the “predatory trans woman” caricature transphobes love but I'm sure everyone's already covered this #What I'm saying is #You can't like #Say “ohhh Jax was bad for a reason and it's better to try to understand it” and then immediately forget it because you got the ick #Like #Are we ableist or whatever for calling it what it is or #Do YOU perhaps have some unchecked biases?#I've seen quite a few people with intrusive thoughts say that Jax was not having that experience #And that even if that were the case it wouldn't be good representation either way #Which I understand wholeheartedly. Those who experience these struggles are often stereotyped as dangerous or irrational and whatever else #At the same time “intrusive thoughts” seems to be some kind of fallback for when a character thinks of something icky or whatever as well #Even when the term doesn't apply. Because no one wants to explore that.#There's a lot to say on that but it would take forever for me to be able to put it to words ;-;#tadc critical #Throwing some salt:#“You just don't respect abuse victims!!” girl you can't accept that a character copes with trauma in a way that disturbs you #And on top of that you constantly downplay all of the ways she's abused those around her!!#You call victims of said abuse irl irrational for criticizing how it was presented???#Look in a mirror maybe???#Honestly enough about Jax I need to think about the others more.
