Social and Professional Ethics in Social Media, why it matters?
Written by: Mazin Al-Shukaili
Tuesday, November 28
New media have given a greater form of freedom, and that is a condition for the media to do its best. However, the practice of new media is very large and is liable to slip towards threatening the credibility of the media and diminishing its ability to play its part in helping people acquire knowledge, because people publish everything they want without making sure that it is credible source.
Despite the great freedom enjoyed by users of these platforms, because the restriction of media freedoms is no longer accepted in the contemporary world, and the easy to transfer news and image and the multiplicity of media. All that remains is the commitment of the professional standards of the person himself and thinking well before publishing anything, so as to enhance credibility and trust and to prevent corruption.
Because of the difficulty of monitoring people in the means of social communication, the competent authorities issued a list of ethics of the profession of electronic publishing and a list of crimes of publication, and so that the person knows what to write before publishing it.
The ethics of the print profession differ greatly from the ethics of modern electronic publishing. In social media, a person can publish pictures, videos, sound clips, links, etc., in addition to other issues such as publishing people's photos without their consent or publishing what is not like them. What is publication in these platforms is representing the writer himself and his ethics and style, since it cannot force a person to use a certain style.

Education is the cornerstone of the advancement and development of human beings and civilizations, the higher education is complementary to previous school years, primary, secondary. In terms of education and rehabilitation, and give the students the skills that they needs in their life before they needs them in their job.
Countries suffer large financial losses by teaching students the ideal education in institutions of higher education, especially the Gulf countries, which bear all their tuition expenses in addition to give them a special expense. Where it is a fully free education, unlike many countries in the world that do not provide free education to their students directly or indirectly.
Countries provide free education to students to encourage them to study and make it easier for them, because these countries fully believe in the importance of higher education in the development of national human resources by providing them with the skills required to participate constructively in the service of their homeland, through the use of modern and sophisticated technologies, and make them in a high degree of understanding in their specialties and even in their public life.
In spite of all the facilities and mechanisms provided by the countries to serve their people in the scientific field, many people are reluctant to higher education and join jobs without completing their higher education, and find some do not pay attention to study and does not complete the requirements of study and continue to fail, here really is the wrong human investment and he is betraying his country, which pays him a lot of money to complete his studies.

Written by: Mazin Al-Shukaili
Tuesday, November 14
Social media have helped to create platforms for the formation of public space or the public domain, and the role of the main traditional media (newspapers, radio, television, news outlets) has been limited to prioritizing public opinion and no longer has the effective capacity to define and shape the nature of the discourse and the approval industry , also social networking sites have become the dominant and closest to people.
Social networking sites have an impact on the behavior of individuals and groups, but here I will speak about the emotional and behavioral impact on girl issue, and when I asked Maha Al-Abri a student in Nizwa college of technology she answered the following.
With the great spread of social networking sites in our societies and among all segments of society, we must know that these sites have the pros and cons, even if the person realizes that what is presented is wrong, but with the multitude of presentation and viewing it can convinced people to adopt it.
When we talk about the effects of these sites on women, the impact is significant and remarkable at the level of religious, moral, behavioral and even formal. Modern women rely a lot on the products offered in these sites, such as clothes, bags, shoes, and the methods of display have a great role in persuading the demand for products even if they are outsiders to the community, it is with time become familiar and ordinary.
On the moral and behavioral side, women are influenced by what is presented to the sites by following the celebrities of the of social media whether they are right or wrong, and the movements that have recently emerged in the Arab country indicate that, thus the behavior of women varies from generation to generation until these sites became the first educator for some families.
Social Media effect on language

Social network site and websites have upset the use of Arabic languages, so it divided into multiple languages, and the media and websites have mastered the creation of new terms and extraneous words. It has become common practice to mix between Arabic and English with some of the abbreviations.
E-mail messages, social media, blogs and websites imposed a new written language that was filled with new expressions, such as cartoons, images, symbols and signs in e-mail and social communication as a way to express feelings and emotions instead of Arabic words.
In addition to the phenomenon of poor linguistic performance and widespread linguistic and grammatical errors and spelling and resort to slang, also the using of double language in the media, which is one of the most common mistakes, has become a real problem facing the Arabic language in the era of globalization and cultural openness and the control of foreign languages to the media.
Many of the users of social media do the Arabization of English maybe because there is no similar meaning in Arabic or for the modern and fashionable in writing, they use Arabic words but written in English like marhaba which mean hello, if they are surprised, write OMG! as a shortcut to the word.

Twitter has made some minor adjustments to the terms of service, which only concern users outside of the United States, which has aroused the discontent of many users.Which ignited the resentment is that these new conditions entered into force on October 2, as the company informed the users of this update of the terms of service shortly before, and posted on the Internet significantly.
The discontented item is when the terms of service speak of Twitter's right to provide user content on any of its services to organizations, companies and individuals without the user being compensated for using the original content that they has posted.
The new additional terms can use by Twitter or other companies, organizations and individuals may be made without payment to you of any financial settlement relating to content that you publish, broadcast or make available through the Services.
Because of that hundreds of users interacted with their comments by commenting on or rejecting it, they said that it was not a new item and was commonplace in others social network sites.

Social media now open a large space to Omani residents to express their feeling and loyalty to the country, so they write about evolution that happened in Oman and achievements of modern renaissance and pride in the prosperity and joy in which they live under the rule of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos, also they praise his wisdom in internal and external policy.

The use of satire in social media on political issues
Written by: Mazin Al-Shukaili
Tuesday, October 3
In the past, satire was confined to culture, literature and the public life and many writers success in this field, whether Arabs or West people, but now people in media are using satire in political issues in the event of dissatisfaction with political decisions or if they desire to change a certain thing for their benefit.
Social networking sites (SNS) allowed people to use satire to express their views and feelings about the situations that happen in their country, the satire ways is like using cartoons, sarcastic pictures and caricature, or funny phrases, but the satire must be in accordance with certain limits and ethics and have a meaningful content, so it is like a message to change a particular issue or influence on politicians.
Public people now can easily share any satire things in social media and they can write their own comment depend on their orientation towards the issue, like what happened in the Gulf crisis (Quatrain and Saudi Arabia and its allies) that press an TV organization also the public people use satire in social media by pictures and statements, caricature and sayings in way to influence the public opinion on the issue and support their position and there has been considerable interaction between these publications between supporters and opponents, because satire attracts the follower and forcing them to participate or change their attitude towards the issue.
The use of satire in politics using social networking sites has become very effective way to pressure people to adopt or abandon ideas that especially come from governments.

Modern technology has made a quantum leap in the lives of individuals and peoples throughout the world, Omani like other people used social media to make their life easy and to communicate with other peoples without borders and barriers.
The world has become a very small village, and this is one of the most important advantages of the social media, and the means of social communication has become an important role in the educational process, so the teacher can contact with the parents to inform them about the condition of their son in school, in addition to the health awareness that provided by health institutions in the Sultanate like what they do in last days the immunization for measles disease, where the social media especially twitter play an important role of awareness of that immunization.
people in Oman use some chats platforms more than others such as, WhatsApp because it's easy to use so the young and old people can use and do chatting inside groups or individually, the others apps is confined to the youth category and academics and the educated class which the apps are snap chat, Instagram face book and twitter.
On the other hand, that platforms allow people to spread rumors without verifying the credibility of the content, also these platforms have an impact on the children and they become sailing in all areas that suit them and do not suit them. In addition to the spread of the phenomenon of extortion because of the lack of user awareness.
