Robert Merton (1910-2003) argued that society may be set up in a way that encourages too much deviance. Learn more about Robert Merton's strain...
Ultimately man seeks satisfaction, joy, contentment, fulfilment, peace; which are all very positive and delightful goals.
What causes us to desire such things? What is it about our biological design that enables us to crave a sense of fulfilment, or even sense that we are lacking something.
The strain theory develops a very robotic theory on the way humans attempt to achieve that satisfactions in various ways.
Robert K. Merton
Conformity: pursing cultural goals through socially approved means.
Innovation: using socially unapproved or unconventional means to obtain culturally approved goals. Example: dealing drugs or stealing to achieve financial security.
Ritualism: using the same socially approved means to achieve less elusive goals (more modest and humble).
Retreatism: to reject both the cultural goals and the means to obtain it, then find a way to escape it.
Rebellion: to reject the cultural goals and means, then work to replace them.
Is there a difference between joy and happiness? Does having joy mean the same thing as feeling happy?
As part of research, exploring questions and mans conclusion of the world.
Essay/informative and philosophical documentary.

Galatians 5, a text that inspires and leaves one in awe of the creator of the universe. The Prince of peace delegates His precious spirit upon Paul, infusing both the reality of Gods radical love and unique nature.
He is an advocate of joy, peace, love, long-suffering, kindness, charity, gentleness, self-control. All of which are characteristics we’d hope to achieve in a life time, in their purest form.
But what of ‘God is Love’ ? A transcendent and heavily misunderstood phenomena.
From the topic of Joy i intend on creating language within language, proposing questions through answers and engaging with a stylistic ritual in filmic language that would pursue this topic.
In essence the piece would resign to a whirlwind of confusion, posing questions that involve redesigning and reassembling pre-established conventions of film language.
This would involve documenting other people interacting with their own thoughts, and even the thoughts of surrounding humans.
The truth is a trap: you cannot get it without it getting you; you cannot get the truth by capturing it, only by its capturing you.
Søren Kierkegaard
