Started prep in july 2024. Got results in feb 2025.
8 months.
I got a 517. So happy with my score!!
Today my results will come out. I had a dream that I scored 500. I was embarrassed but relieved that the score gave me clarity. I thought I would definitely retake the test.
I retook the unscored AAMC practice exam and got more CARS questions wrong compared to the first attempt. Does this mean having read the passage before was a disadvantage ?
Took the MCAT today while I was sick and could barely breathe during the P/S section.
Felt extremely underprepared for the C/P section. I couldnāt even bring myself to attempt solving most problems that required time.
CARS and BB were like usual, not too bad.
Iām predicting a 505-510
Tomorrow is my first MCAT. I predict I will score ~ 510.
Jan 7, 2025 and I got a 517 on aamc FL4
T-11 days to the mcat.
As a student, I am afraid of two things:
studying hard but not smart enough
studying smart but not hard enough.
Before and after.
Day 2 of 20 of the last mcat prep before the real mcat on Jan 16th. I am doing BB Uworld exclusively in tutor mode. I am learning so much I can feel it.
I have my MCAT in one month exactly. Today is Dec 16, 2024. Iāll probably start seriously studying for this test on Dec 25 or 26. I hope I have fun and learn a lot!
I started studying for the MCAT in june 2024 so that means that for the first test, Iāll have studied for ~8 months on and off (much less actually if you analyze it to the details).
I hope, for the second mcat, I can study for at least 300 hours.
This is what I revised yesterday for the BP practice test that I will be taking today.
Although my bare minimum standard for revision for this exam was to review all chem phys equations, I did not accomplish that.
However, I decided to continue with my plan to take the practice test today because it is nearly impossible to fit in this PE in any other time slot in the next two weeks.
Iām expecting to get a score in the 502-505 range.
UPDATE: I got a 507.
Today I wrote down some equations on the big whiteboard in my university. This activity was more like a play than a planned study session. Weirdly, whiteboards feel less risky to write on than notebooks. I was suprised to find out that I knew more than I expected to know in terms of the equations.
After two days, I will be taking another FL exam iA.
I decided today to take my first real mcat in January 2025.
This is because:
⢠I believe I will get anywhere from 500-515 on the real test.
⢠I have the time for a retest and wonāt have to study for college when prepping for the retest, which guarantees better prep and scores imo.
⢠Iām looking forward to being done with college and studying for the mcat primarily. Iāll have two January weeks to do this. ļæ¼
⢠Taking the mcat more than once was my plan in the beginning, although it changed in the middle. I recognize that I can get lucky and get good enough scores in the first try.
I keep blaming my college for my inability to seriously study for the mcat. College already feels like āstudyingā and itās proving difficult to study in two different ways seriously.
For example, today I decided not to take FL exam because I wanted to prepare for it beforehand. Then I got a feedback from one of my professors on a college paper indicating that I wil need to significantly edit and improve the paper.
This stressed me out because I had planned my days with the assumption that I was done with this paper. This led me to completely ignore the prep for the FL practice exam and focus on my college assignments.
However, I also did not make much progress on my college assignments yet. When stress gets too high, I literally donāt accomplish anything. I wonder if itās because my mind is working in the background, trying to make a new plan.
I do believe that college is a huge distraction from mcat prep because distractions that are of a similar stimulus are stronger. Mcat prep and college are both āstudyingā.
Iāve heard that taking as many practice tests as possible and reviewing them is the single best way to score really high on the mcat.
Currently I am more focused on taking the practice exams and less on reviewing them. I wonder if this still helps as much. Something is better than nothing, I guess. My blueprint practice exams expire in january and I havenāt used most of them.
I am planning on taking a practice exam soon in hopes of being able to decide from the score whether I should take the real exam in Jan 2025 or later.
