Prompt: Small gestures that show how much they care.
The week was just getting started, and the pile of you had to finish wouldn’t stop growing. Your coworkers kept bugging you, and your boss wouldn’t stop criticizing your work. You just wanted to take a break, but apparently, that was asking for too much. Thankfully you had that someone special in your life that always knew what to do when you felt under the weather.
You rested your forehead on the desk and let out a sigh. “Hey baby, come take a little break!” His cheery voice brought a smile on your face. Lifting your head, you saw your boyfriend holding two ice-cream cones in his hands. “Hurry up, or the ice-cream will melt!"
While you were working, you heard unusual sounds coming from the kitchen. You quietly made your way to see Angeal putting away groceries. He looked at you and smiled, "Sorry to disturb you. Thought you could use a little help, so don’t worry about the groceries and cooking. Just focus on your work and leave the rest to me.”
Your notifications on your phone were getting out of hand. Picking up the phone angrily, you unlocked your phone to see the messages from Genesis. Hot selfies of Genesis filled the chat thread followed by a message:
“I thought you could use a handsome distraction. ;)”
Out of the blue, you had received a message from your boss saying that he’s sorry for assigning you so much work, and you no longer had to do it. Your phone went off while you were trying to figure out what had happened. Sephiroth sent you a message that read:
“Now relax. Your boss is no longer going to bother you.”
It was way past your dinner time, but you decided to ignore your rumbling stomach and focus on work. You heard the door to your room opening, and you nearly jumped out of your chair. Cloud stepped into the room with a smile and a plastic bag in his hand, “Hope you don’t mind that I let myself in. Are you hungry?”
Your coworker hurried into your office, “Hey, you never told me that you had a boyfriend!” You looked up from your computer screen to see her holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers. A blue card with silver swirls was attached to the beautiful bouquet:
“Take care of yourself. If you need anything, let me know.”
You felt a gust of cold air hit your back, but you didn’t turn around as this was your boyfriend’s usual way of announcing himself. For a few minutes, he stood behind you and watched you at work. Your tense shoulder told him everything he needed to know about your condition. Vincent slid one finger under your chin and turned your face towards him before pressing his lips on your own. With that gesture, he wordlessly excused himself.
You decided to take a little break and check your phone notifications. Seeing a text message from Reno, you opened it to find a hilarious gif. Your sudden laughter filled the small office room. Below that gif was a message:
“Remember to take a break and smile!”
You were surprised to hear your doorbell ring as you were not expecting any guests. Though you wanted to continue working, you decided to answer the door. A delivery boy handed you a paper bag and walked away without waiting for your reaction. You looked down at the paper bag to find a sticky note attached to it:
“Eat properly. Your meals will be delivered to you from now on.”
You were just about ready to pull your hair out. The stress was slowly building up, and now, it was getting to you. Right in the middle of stressing out about stress, you heard a voice call out to you, “Relax, will you? I cleaned your house and cooked your meals, so stop worrying about all that. Just focus on your work, cutie.”
Your boss walked into your office and began to apologize extensively. Not knowing how to react, you remained silent, but the shocking moment was interrupted when your phone rang. You quickly answered the call to hear the voice of your beloved, “If that man troubles you further, inform me right away. To think that he had the audacity to burden my princess.” When you asked him about the situation, your boyfriend informed you that the company you worked for was now owned by the Shinra Company.
