definitely, it wasn’t the time to discuss important things like that, so matthew complied about letting their problems for later. “I didn’t take the tea this time, because I wanted to give us the chance to start a family. It’s time for us to have pups, dox. I feel so ready, but I need to know if you’re ready too.” cuddling his mate, matt closed his eyes, so he could immerse himself on his mate’s scent. “my heat will start by the morning.”

“i’m more ready than ever to have pups with you. i want to have pups with the one that i love,” he whispered in reply, cuddling the other closer and breathing in his scent. his mate’s scent was a lot more prominent since his heat was so close and it made the wolf inside maddox stir. “i’ll be here to take care of you during your heat.”

matthew knew his alpha was telling the truth, but it didn’t make the feeling of betrayal hurt less. and he looked the man deep in the eyes, sighing quietly before a new wave of cramps hit him. “I love you so much.” matt sniffed, bending his body so he could lay his head on the curve of maddox neck. “I want it too, and I want to talk with you about bodhi’s pup, but this pre-heat is killing me. I’m sad, but don’t want you to go away, so carry me to bed, please?”

“i love you too,” maddox whispered as he wrapped an arm around his mate’s much smaller body and pulled him closer. as the other spoke, he used his arm around him to pick him up in his arms and carry him to the bed, setting him down onto it gently. “i promise we will get to talk about it soon, but for now let’s rest while we wait for your heat,” he said, laying on top of the bed and wrapping an arm around matt to cuddle him close.

Conner knew that even though he and Flynn had a bond, he would always go to his father. He waited for the jump to happen, and finally the pup went to his father. “He’s just haven’t seen you today, he still prefers me.” He replied with the same joking tone that his clan leader used. He goes over to the iron stove, and makes sure the stew was still warm. Then he ladeled it into a thick bowl, before turning to add a little bread on the side to go with it. He was meant for this type of stuff, house things. It just…right. He looks up when he heard Maddox again, and noticed how quickly Flynn went from alive and splashing to sleepy. It was an effect Conner understood, the Alpha standing near him made him sleepy too. “Yeah, give me a second.” He moves the bowl, hoping it wouldn’t get too cold before shedding his layers. Soon, he was padding over to Maddox in his other form. His fur black but thick and soft, and understanding green eyes waited for him to lead the way. His job was simple, just to help with the process.

it was truly something else seeing conner in his true wolf form. his wolf was beautiful and it made maddox smile to see it. “let’s go put this little pup to sleep,” he said, looking down at flynn and smiling when he saw the pup yawn and rub his eyes. taking him to the bedroom, maddox sat him down onto the bed gently. flynn immediately took on his wolf form since he had always been one to sleep in his furs. moments later, maddox also took on his wolf form. his fur was thick and light brown and his eyes glowed amber. he was a much bigger wold than a lot of his fellow alphas and all the omegas, which mean he was perfect with generating heat for flynn to sleep comfortably. wrapping himself around flynn’s much smaller form, he pulled the pup in close to him. looking over at conner, he gestured for him to come over and cuddle too.

“I don’t believe in you, dox. you had all the time of the world to tell me, your mate, and even so, you decided to keep that from me. we are a large pack, how could you do this?” he made a face because of a cramp, taking a deep breath before turning his face to maddox. “a son, dox! I’m the one who was supposed to give you your first child and I feel so betrayed because of it. What about our family?”

“you have to believe me because i’m telling you the truth this time. i know i shouldn’t have kept it from you, but it was hard to bring up and so i never did,” he replied. he then got closer to matt and knelt down so that he could look at him. “the pups you and i have will be made from love. and i want that, i want to have pups with you.”

jayden looked up at maddox when he spoke about the pups. jayden did think about it, he wanted to have a pup of his own, but he wanted one with someone he care dearly. “ i would love to have pups, but i don’t know, i want to be with someone when it happens, a mate, ” he whispered. “ but i mean, if i ended up having one regardless of a mate or not in my life, then, i’d love that pup unconditionally. ”

“my advice would be to have pup with someone you really care about, especially if they’re your mate. or at least someone from the same pack or it complicates things,” maddox joked, letting out a chuckle. the fact that flynn wasn’t also the son of his mate nor was his father from the same pack as maddox did complicate things, but he didn’t regret anything. “that’s a good way to see things. i’m positive that you’ll be a great father when the time comes.”

Conner chuckled as the Alpha became loud and joyous at the sight of the two. He lightly bounced Flynn in his arms as the baby babbled to his father. “So talkative suddenly, what happened to the tired pup?” He asked, before moving over to where he had left a loose shirt and a cloth diaper. As long as Flynn was in his human form, he had to be covered. He kept the pup distracted before getting him dressed. “It was no problem to watch him at all. He was good, as usual, for me. Are you going to hold your son now?” He teased, picking up the pup and holding him out to his father. The pup sucking on his fist as he he is held up, looking up at Maddox, his legs kicking out. “Also I made lunch earlier if you want some of the leftovers. It’s still warming on the stove.” He had made a stew, since Flynn was starting to eat solids, he would give him it. Making sure the potato and meat were cut up or shredded so he could eat it.

maddox chuckled as conner held out flynn for him. for a moment, flynn stayed holding on to the oemga before jumping out of his arms and landing in maddox’s arms. “it looks like flynn wanted to stay with you and not me,” he joked, holding the pup tightly in his arms. looking over at conner again, a smile spread across his face. “oh, thank you! i actually am very hungry,” he replied. his attention shifted to flynn when he heard a yawn leave him. he saw that the pup was rubbing his eyes and nuzzling into him as if getting ready to sleep. “it looks like this little pup is ready for a nap. want to help me put him to sleep?” he asked, looking at conner again. it was always a process to put flynn to sleep since the pup switched into his wolf form whenever he slept.

“ that’s really sweet. well, know that you are one of mine, ” he said, trying his best to hide his blush, looking away as he kept the smile on his face. it was true, maddox just knew how to keep jayden comfortable and always keep him on a brighter mood every time they saw each other. “ alright, i guess it will be a surprise, ” he chuckled. “ i ended up seeing some of the pups today, they are the cutest. it’s hard to believe that one day, i may have one of my own. ” he chuckled. “ one day, i guess. ”

maddox enjoyed seeing the blush on jayden’s face. he liked knowing that he could put the other in a good mood since he always found jayden to be such a kind wolf that he thought should always have a smile on his face. “pups are definitely the cutest. “it really changes your life when you have one of your own. my son flynn definitely changed my life for the better,” he replied. “are you thinking of having some soon?”

Conner was laughing as the pup in the tub splashed him a little. The pup was obviously very happy, and for a rare moment, he was in his human form. Hearing him laugh, he squeals, and does it again before he got distracted by the wooden duck Conner showed him. Now he was distracted, Conner could focus on finishing his bath. Once he was sure the pup was clean, he reached for the towel that was being warmed near the iron stove. “Come here little one.” He purred, plucking up the pup, and started to dry him off. Though both seemed to automatically become more allerted as they hear a door close. “Maddox? Home already?” Conner stands up, smiling as he cradled the little one against him. “Papa is home, can you say papa?” Conner knew it wasn’t his pup, but he couldn’t help the love he felt for him, nuzzling his nose against the little wet one. Eliciting happy wiggles and gurgles from the pup.

maddox was always happy to come home after a long day of attending to his packmaster duties, and even happier whenever he arrived to find conner taking care of flynn. it wasn’t rare for the omega to take care of his son since both he and bodhi were often busy and needed someone to watch him. there were other caretakers, but maddox didn’t trust them as much as he trusted conner. “i’m home! and i’m so happy to see you guys!” he exclaimed, stepping closer to the both of them. he smiled at how happy flynn seemed to be taken care of by conner. “i hope you’ve been good for conner today, flynn!” the pup babbled out a response and maddox couldn’t help but let out a chuckle before turning to conner. “thank you for watching him today, it really means a lot.”

he stops almost every two minutes before he can reach his destination, either lured by someone asking him to come over or help with something. he’s fine with that, he likes to help anyway and maybe he stayed a bit too long talking to the caregiver at the nursery (it’s mostly an excuse for an extra five minutes with his nephew too). so when he pushes the door to the Tavern and is greeted by both the scent and voices of those he crosses paths with, he needs to be quick before anyone remembers they have new stories to entertain him with.

“How is it that I can always find you on my first try despite your recurrent cryptic ass requests for meeting up. Repeat after me, sunshine: ‘time and place’.” he says, dragging the last three words while looking at Maddox and before drawing his attention to whatever mug is on the counter in front of the older. “What are you drinking?” and that’s enough to let the alpha know that whatever it is, it’s about to be snagged because that’s how they work and Maddox knows that as long as he has his own drink, Andrei will never ask for a mug of his own. It’s been like that for as long as they remember.

the tavern is filled to the brim with wolves and maddox doesn’t mind, actually enjoys it that way. he liked having people around him that were too drunk to care that he was a packmaster and treated him like any other wolf. there were always stories ready to be told and swapped when the tavern was busy like that. but that wasn’t the main reason why he was there at that moment. it was for something much more specific.

maddox smelled the scent of his old friend before he actually saw him. they had known each other for so long that his scent was very familiar to him. “i knew you’d find me even if i didn’t tell you the exact time and place. you always do.” his eyes trailed over to andrei as his mug was snatched from his grasp, letting out a sigh at his antics. “i think you just figured that out yourself,” he replied before leaning over to take back his mug and taking a sip. “how’s your day been so far? you miss me?”

“Maddox… I know you….” He looked at the other. “I know the power and influence you have. Also I know when you lie.”Owen looked at the other and shook his head. “Whatever. It’s not like you care anymore anyways.” he shook his head and looked away. “Do I hate you? Didn’t you throw our relationship away?” He asked the other curiously and shook his head. “I gave you every ounce of me and you can just throw it away like it didn’t mean a damn thing to you.” He glared at the man. “So yes apart of me does hate you, along with a apart that still loves you.”

of course he couldn’t lie to owen. the wolf had known him intimately enough to know when he was lying. when he heard his words, he snapped his head up to look at him. “who says i don’t care anymore?” he blurted out. maddox hadn’t meant to say that out loud, looking away again after he spoke. “it did mean a lot to me. i just didn’t know if i was ready for anything serious and i didn’t want to hold you back.” there was no point in lying since he had already done enough damage to their relationship. when he heard the last part of owen’s words, he looked over at him again. “you still love me?”

“ thank you, ” he blushed. “ i didn’t think i was anyone’s favorite, ” he bit his lower lip. he kept his eyes on the other and he chuckled, watching as the other ate the bread. it was quite delicious, the bread, and he enjoyed eating it himself. “ you don’t have to do that. i love making the bread, and it gives me an excuse to see you, ” he chuckled. “ truly, you don’t have to do that. ”

“i’m sure you’re a lot of wolves’ favorite, you’re even sweeter than your bread!” he exclaimed with a small smile. maddox liked complimenting the other and seeing him react to the praise. "you’re so kind, but i really would like to get you something! i’ll just have to make it a surprise.” he then made a mental note to keep track of the tradesmen that came in to see if they had anything that jayden would find useful. “so, tell me about your day! did anything interesting happen?”

Conner was trying to hold himself together. Maddox was just bringing in so many emotions suddenly. He was happy Maddox saw him as family, touched he did, but at the same time other feelings were there. It all was confusing him, but he didn’t want to leave the Alpha. So he didn’t speak, instead he nudged at his arm, once, twice, a few more times. Moving it and then studying the Alpha’s lap, thinking about something he was obviously not going to share. Without a word, the Omega moved himself so he was curled against him, his head under his. Legs moving so they were tucked under his arm,and spreading out against the ground next to the pack master. Conner closed his eyes as his cheek pressed between his shoulder and his collarbone.

One arm moving to wrap around his arm, trying to get it to wrap around him. He just needed it, and he knew Maddox wouldn’t question it…much. “Tell anyone about this and you’ll become my victim of all pranks for the next four moons.” He mumbled out, though he was starting to relax. Maddox was actually…pretty warm, and the muscles actually weren’t so bad to rest against.

maddox was surprised by the other’s actions, but he couldn’t deny that he liked having him curled up against him like that. he understood that conner didn’t want to speak about what they were previously talking about, so he didn’t say anything more and just let out a small laugh at his words, wrapping an arm around conner’s much more petite body and pulling him closer against him. “i don’t think anyone would believe me even if i did. sabre’s most notorious prankster being a huge cuddler? they wouldn’t expect it!” maddox teased him lightly.

maddox wasn’t sure if he should say anything else, but he did know that he enjoyed having conner that close. shifting over to look at him, he reached out to tuck a piece of stray hair behind conner’s ear. he never noticed how soft conner’s features were when he wasn’t pulling his pranks until that moment. “are you getting sleepy?”

when his alpha scent hit him, matthew felt like going crazy. he had to fight the urge to simply jump on him, scent him until he was smelling just like him; and the need to take off his clothes and put them on his nest. it took him a lot of self-control because they needed to talk. “yes.” he said, quickly. “why you didn’t tell me you had a son?” in his state, matt did not want to wind up much, so he went straight to his question. “and don’t lie to me again, bodhi told me everything.”

matthew’s words caught him off guard. he never expected for his mate to find out about his son before he had the chance to tell him. “i won’t lie to you, i do have a son. and i wish i would’ve been the one to tell you first,” he replied, an apologetic expression on his face. maddox wished he could be taking care of his mate during his pre-heat instead, but he knew they had to have that conversation. “i meant to tell you before we mated, but i just didn’t know how. flynn’s a big part of my life and so are you, and i just wasn’t sure how to introduce you guys,” he explained, stepping closer to the other. “please believe me when i say i never meant to hurt you.”

he was in pre-heat. his judgments were affected, and now he was feeling even more upset about everything. matthew was supposed to be nesting, craving for his alpha, but instead of this, he was just sitting around the house, thinking about what he should say to his mate because he was so sad. this month, he expected to talk with him about having pups, but now he wasn’t so sure. the heat gave him the courage to speak and now all he had to do was wait until maddox got home from his duties. he wanted to know everything. maddox had meant to go home faster, but he had been swamped with duties and had had to stay out longer than usual. but it was his last day since he had told every he wouldn't be around for a while since his mate’s heat was soon, leaving his second-in-command in charge. so when he walked in to smell matt’s pre-heat scent, he was delighted since it meant they could finally talk about having. “i’m finally ho-” he was cut off when he noticed the look on his mate’s face. “did something happen?”

Dear gods, Bodhi wanted to hate Maddox now. It would make it so much easier to attempt and overcome his wolf’s baser instincts to obey. To beg instead of demand. Bodhi was a great many things, and his submission came naturally in moments like this. “We can blend our pups together,” Bodhi offered, frantic, hands gripping the hem of Maddox’s shirt from his place on the ground. “Matthew’s and mine. We’ll raise them together. Flynn can be the first pup without a divided pack.” It was nonsensical. It couldn’t work. Would Makani agree to that? The packmaster wanted the packs to remain divided… but then again, so had Bodhi, until this very moment.

When Maddox pulled Bodhi to his feet, the omega gripped his former lover’s upper arms to keep himself standing. I won’t take Flynn from you, Bode. In a rush of air through his lips, Bodhi exhaled, relief washing over him, and he sunk down again, unable to stand any longer. From his place on the floor on his knees, the tears of gratefulness came, but Bodhi was too thankful and overcome to wipe them away. His head hung, hair falling over his face as he caved slightly, knelt down with his forehead pressed to the wood beneath him. “Thank you, Alpha. Thank you.” When it came time, when Flynn was grown, his pack would be of far less importance. He wouldn’t be ripped from Bodhi’s arms; he would be as much of a part of the village as anyone else, and Bodhi would still have access. Was it ideal? Of course not… but Bodhi made himself a promise to fight for the convergence of the packs until that happened, so Flynn could unite them all. “When Flynn reaches adulthood… if it still means that much to you… he can be a Sabre.”

bodhi painted a nice picture of flynn being the first pup to come from a blended version of the packs. it something maddox liked to think about and what he’d prefer other than flynn being from the sabre pack. but he also had to remind himself that it was most likely not possible. as packmaster, he had to be realistic and not be stuck in a fantasy. but it would definitely be something he’d be vying for if that was one of the only ways to appease both he and bodhi. “that’s something i’ve been thinking about too. if it’s possible one day, i would want that to happen.” unfortunately, he was pretty sure the other packmasters wouldn’t quite agree with him on that.

after the split second that bodhi was on his feet, he was onto his knees again and that somehow made maddox feel even more terrible that he had to bring it up. he hated that he had to put bodhi in that position, but even though athos was supposed to be a new wolves, there was still tradition. and tradition dictated that flynn had to be part of a pack eventually. if it was solely up to maddox, then pack status wouldn’t matter. “ thank you, bodhi. and i’m really sorry there could be no other compromise. i really hope in the future, we can decided something for flynn that we’re both happy about.”
