Catching Up!
Hey y'all I'm sorry I haven't written in awhile! I have just gotten busy and lost track of my days! I am going to try and think back to catch you all up but bare with me. Our d-group nights have been awesome! We have made some really good dinners for ourselves consisting of like a mustard chicken and then the other one was BBQ chicken (we like chicken). On these nights we go through our second Timothy study and also go over the book we are reading called Follow Me. Let me tell you, this book is sooo good and will challenge the way you live your life and think. Let me just tell a story from the book. Ok so to set the stage, Azeem (a friend of David and David is the author of the book) was talking to a taxi driver one day. The taxi driver believed he would pay for his sin a little while but then go on to heaven because he wasn't all that bad of a person. Azeem came back at him with this; "if I slapped you in the face, what would you do to me?" Taxi- "kick you out of my car" Azeem- "what if I went up to a random guy on the street and slapped him?" Taxi- "he would get a group of his friends together and beat you up" Azeem- "what if I went up to a police officer and slapped him?" Taxi- "he would beat you up and then throw you in jail" Azeem- "what if I went up to the king of this country and slapped him?" Taxi- "You would die". Azeem- "so you see that the severity of sin's punishment is always a reflection of the position of the person who is sinned against. Like Wow, we are slapping God in the face! We aren't just doing it once but over and over again! I challenge you to read this book and not be changed by it. Last week on our free night we went to the beach to just hangout. It was good but I realized I have a problem...I can't go the beach without collecting seashells. Oh boy am I going to have a ton of them by the end of the summer! Thursday talks are rocking my world! I have heard a talk from Keith about not just snacking on God's Word but rather feasting on it. On Friday, I got to hear from Brandon, OSU staff leader visiting. He talked about the importance of friends and the impact they have on us. Wow, he was so funny and he his talk was so clear. His line was "let me see your friends, and I can see your future". Saturdays have been incredible. I have been able to share the gospel with so many girls and one of them even decided to actively follow him! So exciting! That is such a life changing decision but she is not out of the woods. It is hard to actively follow Christ in this world. I ask that you will pray for her. Her name is Sarah and she is from Texas. And now I come to the final day of the week, Sunday. We spend the beginning of the day at our church, Grace Fellowship Baptist Church of Robertsdale. We are studying 1 Timothy in Sunday School. We then go to service which usually ties into Sunday School somehow. Service has been a challenge to get used to because it is an hour and a half to two hour service. They have been such great hosts to us! We have been assigned families that we occasionally eat lunch with. Last week we had lunch with our family, Lori and Wayne. They are so great and have a beautiful home! Today we had a fish fry at the church and there was sooooo much food! It was all so good! I can't believe I am half way through my summer here (so sad). It has been going crazy fast and I have learned so much! I have changed a lot on the way I think and act. It is so true that these 9 weeks are going to have an impact on my next 40 years! I can't wait to see what the rest of my time here holds! Sorry I have been bad with updating my blog. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me in some way! Please stay tuned for what is to come!
Soup Campbell Will Blow You Away
Wow is really all I can say when I think about the past two days! Work started up for the week again, just call me the fruit turner. It has been a little stressful at work this week because supposedly important people are coming at some point so everything has to be perfect. I had to run the whole produce department today by myself for the last hour of my shift! Lets just say I freaked a little bit inside. I had to take a phone call during that time, which I had never done before. The guy was not very nice that I talked to either. Then I had to go to the floral department and fill a balloon. Once again, I had never done that before. If people had questions I had to know the answer. I am just lucky like the department didn't burn down or something. On the plus side, I am still really liking work. There is one coworker that likes to ask me questions that make me think hard and a lot have to do with what we are doing at Kaleo and what I believe. At first, I freaked a little bit just because I didn't want to say the wrong thing, but now I enjoy the challenge and the deep thinking. Our schedule for this week has been really messed up. Yesterday we had TNT (group bible study) and tonight we had TVT (learning how to study the Word). We have been so lucky to have gotten the chance to hear from Soup Campbell!!! Let me just say he is incredible and so is his wife. Yesterday a Linda Campbell had dinner with a small group of girls and I was lucky enough to be part of that group. She has so much wisdom and it was incredible to hear her advice and stories. Both of them talk to you like they have know you their whole life. One big idea I got to hear more about from Linda is how we cannot separate work and faith. Faith is something that should radiate off of you all the time. It is a lifestyle and not something you switch on and off. You need to be an example and the light to those around you. After dinner ended, we headed to Grace to hear from Soup. My eyes have filled up with tears so much the past two days because of the wisdom that has been shared with us. The topic that we have hit is of making disciples. The bible commands us to make disciple, not just tells but commands (Matthew 28:16-20)! Like wow convicted! So many times I shy away from situations where I could spread the word, and I just can't afford to do that anymore (not like that's an option anymore). Not only do you need to make disciples, but disciples of all nations (Psalm 2:8). Did you know that the word disciple is used 269 times in the bible and Christian is used only 3 times?! So many times we think that we can't teach others because we don't know enough when really the case is that most followers of Christ know enough that they could go to third world countries and teach priests! Like once again wow!! I have always had a desire to go to another country and help others less fortunate than myself. To be honest I'm scared to think about leaving, but I've learned over the past two days that I need to leave it in God's hands. I am going to leave you with is image like Soup left us Monday night. Before you really give yourself to God and fully understand what it's like to trust him you tend to try and give God a list of things you want to get done in your life (like Lord I really want to graduate from college, get married, buy a home, have kids...so on and so on). We look to him to sign off on it, like "ok yup ill make those things happen". In reality, God is handing you a blank sheet of paper asking you to just sign it. He is saying to you "we will just fill it in as we go". He is looking for us to sign over our whole life to him to do whatever best fits (that might be to leave the country, be single, suffer....so on). We tend to say "Jesus you are my King, but I am your Prime Minister". People, it doesn't work like that! You have to fully believe and trust in him. So I will leave you with this question, are you willing to sign that blank piece of paper?

D-Group Weekend
This weekend was D-Group Weekend, which means we are given 50 dollars per person in our group for the whole weekend to get out of the Gulf Shores. As a group, we decided to go to Destin, Florida. It was awesome! We stayed about an hour west of Destin in a Best Western. It was so pretty because we were located right next to the ocean! We left Friday night right after we all got home from work and packed up. Friday night we decided to just chill in the hotel and eat ice cream. I have officially been in a Winn-Dixie. FYI it isn't anything special (it was kind of a let down). On Saturday we decided to go to Seaside! It was a cute little town to get away to. All of the businesses there are locally owned and unique. I now own a Seaside t-shirt, which is exciting. We ate at a little pizzeria there and four of us split two wood oven pizzas. We played it safe on one of the pizzas and got the basic mozzarella and basil. On the other one though we tried something different. I believe it had sausage, onions, peppers, mozzarella, and in the middle an egg! It sounds weird, but it was soooo good! After seeing all that Seaside had to offer, we decided to head back to the hotel and change before we went out to dinner. For dinner, we dressed up and headed back into Destin. We ate at a restaurant called Dewey Destin. It was really good food and over looked the boardwalk. Hannah and I split an entree that had Mahi on it that was cooked Mediterranean style. I defiantly recommend it! When we all got done, we headed down to the Harbor Boardwalk. The Boardwalk had some cute little stores along it and also lots of boats. It was kind of interesting to see what kind of fish people brought back on their boat. We saw someone bring back a sword fish! How awesome!! There was an area that had karaoke going. Sarah, a girl in my d-group, really wanted to do it, but we got there to late. We just stayed there to watch other people perform. We ended up having a blast and laughing so hard. We eventually got up in front and danced (we weren't alone). Once it started to rain, we went back to our hotel. Today we got up hoping to hang out at the beach, but to our surprise it was still raining cats and dogs. I don't know the last time I watched it rain for the long and so hard! With the switch of plans, we decided to catch breakfast/lunch in Destin at a restaurant name Another Broken Egg. Wow it was a long wait but sooooo worth it! I had an omelet that had cream cheese and onions in it. On top of it was some kind of cheese and crab meat (only by the ocean). After our plates were devoured, we headed back to the great old Gulf Shores. We laughed so hard on the way back home with all the funny things that were said. Plus Nicole's laugh is so contagious. Now I am currently sitting in a Starbucks in the Tanger Outlet catching up on things and working on my study. It has been a great weekend! Tomorrow we are off to work again and later that night we are privileged to listen to a talk from Soup Campbell! SOOOO EXCITED! I am sorry I haven't gotten the change to blog everyday, but we do not have internet in our rooms which makes things a little difficult. I want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and just know that you are in mine too :)

Week One About Done
I am so sorry I haven't blogged for a few days. It has been one crazy week let me tell you. I am about done with my 40 hour work week. I have been put in produce at Publix, aka I turn fruit all day. Is it bad to say that I am a little sore from working at a grocery store? Who knew lifting boxes of fruit and reaching for things could do that? I was originally with another Kaleo girl but she has been moved. It was kind of sad at first just because I was getting to know her, but I know it's really good for me because it is making me stretch. It is forcing me to get to know other coworkers which usually involve older men that could probably be my dad. One of them actually has already lectured me on my life which was good. They are super nice and always willing to help me understand stuff, plus they like to pick on me too. The past two days my managers have actually gotten to go home almost on time because we have worked so hard and gotten things done. They said they usually go home like 2 hours later. It made me feel good that I could help get them home on time for once. A precious old lady walked up to me yesterday and told me about a girl that worked in produce at Publix and won the lottery. I think she was hinting at me to buy a lottery ticket but I didn't. We had TNT tonight which is like STUMO and it was really good! We talked about our thirst for God. We need to constantly have a thirst for God's word. There are six questions you need to ask yourself: 1. Does my thirst grow with time? 2. Do I feel like I cannot get enough of my time with God? 3. Do I get extra extended time with God? 4. Am I consistent in my daily time with God? 5. Does my discretionary time go to him first? 6. Do I enjoy spending time with God in response to his pursuit of me? This message was so good and so convicting. One of my goals this summer is to create a constant quiet time. I have a hard time sticking to one time, being focused and energized to learn. I just want to make that true for my life.
When you use the gifts God has given you, you will find that God will give you the power you need to accomplish whatever task he gives you
