           MAGNOLIA LEANED AGAINST THE WALL, STIRRING A PERFECTLY manicured fingertip in her drink. as she gazed out at the dance floor, her face was slack, conveying her  sheer boredom. ❝ no one is dancing right now. only that one old couple in the back, and they’re not even dancing in a fun way. ❞ her wonderful date was probably socializing, and while she was proud of his graciousness, she was starting to feel bored. ❝ i don’t even know these people. i’m drunk, i want to dance. or do something.❞

      usually, vinícius would have chosen a full suit to go to a wedding, but with the weather starting to get warm, he opted for something lighter and more comfortable. now his outfit matches with magnolia’s and it fits well with the tone of the celebration. “thank you for coming with me,” he says, fingers laced with hers. “but i have to warn you, i received the invitation before moving out of the hotel, so people might think we’re crashing and try to kick us out. i hope you don’t mind.” at first, he didn’t know if he should attend the wedding. he barely knows the brides, after all. but it did seem like a good excuse to invite magnolia to spend the day with him in a more… romantic setting. not that their other dates aren’t amazing, but this is different. it’s serious and scary. “do you want to dance? or a drink?”

         VINICIUS AND MAGNOLIA LOOKED REALLY GOOD TOGETHER, IF you asked magnolia. he’d coordinated his outfit to hers, which was an airy floral set. it fit the tone of this wedding --- unconventional and colorful. in the back of her mind, she was secretly hoping to get some good pictures out of this; the vibe would be perfect for her brand, and getting to have viní in them was a huge bonus. he was so photogenic, more than he ever knew. and this was a really romantic setting for them, romantic enough that it was starting to give her butterflies. it felt like a step forward. ❝ i’ve never crashed a wedding before, but i have been kicked out of a club, so i think i have the practice. ❞ she teases, looking up to flash him a playful smirk, ❝ but seriously, no one’s going to kick us out for attending their wedding. i’m way too hot. having me at your wedding is a flex. magnolia gently reaches out to interlock her fingers with viní’s, a gesture so earnest it was almost out of character for magnolia. she usually waited for guys to put their arm around her waist, but viní was different. ❝ a drink before the dance might be very nice. ❞

     “ANOTHER MIMOSA, MON chou.” arlo’s padding his way back to the jacuzzi in magnolia’s gorgeous home, wet feet splatting against the stone as he nears her, two flutes in hand. he hands one over to magnolia and stumbles a bit trying to get back into the jacuzzi. in a sudden surge of good judgment, he hands the second one to her so he can focus on one task at a time. “don’t drink mine,” he tells her, feigning seriousness. he climbs back into the jacuzzi and takes the glass from her, then settles in and lets his head roll back while he lets out a relaxed sigh. “i’m just saying, i wanna know what he’s like in bed.” arlo wrinkles his nose and lifts his head to look at the brunette across from him. “not in, like, a weird way. i’m just curious. vini’s really good looking.” he starts to take a sip but he pauses. “not, like, i’m interested in him. and not to say you’re not really good looking. you’re a hot couple, just–” he smirks and chuckles to himself while he lets himself lower into the water until it touches his ears. he makes sure to hold his glass above the surface. “just ease my curious mind, magnolia. jesus.”

          MAGNOLIA WATCHES ARLO WALK BACK TO HER JACUZZI, reveling in the tingle of the hot water on her skin. there’s a giddiness in her chest that can only be caused by alcohol, and a beaming grin on her face so wide it makes her squint her eyes shut. ❝ you’re so cute. as if i need yours. ❞ she opens her doe eyes and takes the drink from arlo, letting them widen almost comically as he starts to pester her. ❝ oh my god, can you relax, please ?? ❞ the brunette quips, before handing the mimosa back to the male and tossing her hair behind her shoulder. only the tips were wet --- magnolia tried to keep her luxurious mane away from chlorine as much as possible. a tiny giggle bubbles out of her chest before she can help it, her eyes darting to the side as she starts to take a long sip of her mimosa. when she’s done, she locks eyes with him again, the alcohol bringing out her most mischievous side. ❝ ...you would not BELIEVE what he’s like in bed...just saying. ❞

Beau knew that he was treading dangerously the moment he invited Magnolia over to look for her necklace. He just couldn’t help it. After years of flirty banter and casual hookups between the two, playing along just came naturally. It’s like every time they spoke things just picked up where they left off. Typically, they’d both take advantage of that to get a little action, but things were different now. Beau was interested in someone else, someone important that he didn’t want to risk messing stuff up with. Thus, part of him was regretting the undertone he’d left in their text exchange. He only hoped that for the first time in their complex friendship of sorts, it had gone over Magnolia’s head. At the sound of a knock at his door, Beau strode to the entrance, opening the door in one swing to greet her with a small yet genuine smile. “It has. Too long if you ask me.” He replied, eyes resting on hers for a moment before he was clearing his throat and sliding over to let her enter. “Please, come in and…uh…begin your search.” 

          MAGNOLIA WAS COMFORTABLE WITH HER AND BEAU’S DYNAMIC. it was familiar to her; things just always seemed to escalate in a fun way, without much thought from either of them. and regardless, magnolia had a sixth sense for when men were interested in her. a third eye, even. the tone of beau’s texts had told her everything she needed to know. ❝ well, ❞ magnolia flashed him a warm grin, before stepping into the place, ❝ how have things been for you ? ❞ immediately, her eyes flickered around the room. partly to try and spot her necklace, but mostly because being back in his place brought back vivid memories of the last time she was here. she took a couple steps into the room before letting her eyes turn back to meet beau’s for a moment. ❝ ‘s a little cleaner than the last time i was here. ❞ the brunette offered him a playful smile, eyes sparkling for a moment with mischief --- before she turns back around to her search.

“hey stranger,” carmen gave the younger woman a soft smile, sitting beside her, “haven’t seen ya around lately.” not that carmen necessarily had much reason to see magnolia at random, but she did tend to miss her when she wasn’t around- more so than she did almost anyone else. she hailed the bartender, running a hand through her tousled hair, “can i buy you a drink?” she didn’t wait for her to answer, speaking to the bartender, “can i get your cheapest whiskey, neat- and whatever she wants.” she gestured toward magnolia. 

            A FAMILIAR VOICE CAUGHT MAGNOLIA BY SURPRISE, CAUSING her to turn around with an eagerness reserved for the most captivating people --- people like carmen. ❝ carmen. ❞ magnolia watched the brunette take a seat, a warm grin spreading across her face --- the warmth enveloped her chest, too, although she was inclined to blame that on her tequila. ❝ i would be offended if you didn’t. ❞ almost subconciously, she scanned carmen’s frame, gazing at her as she placed an order for them. ❝ i’ll have a tequila manhattan, thanks. ❞ magnolia spoke to the bartender, without looking away from carmen. magnolia could barely remember why it had been so long since she’d seen her --- but that was what they did; get as close as possible, and end up burned enough to stay away, only to repeat the cycle once again. ❝ how have you been ? --- it’s been too fucking long. ❞
