McGregor Bowes is a multi-award winning, architecture studio committed to conserving architecture and design excellence. Operating from Edinburgh, McGregor Bowes provides architectural services to clients throughout Edinburgh and surrounding districts. The firm was established in 2010 by the principal, Chris Bowes, who has over 30 years' experience working in architectural practice, in firms based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Hong Kong. Although he has a broad range of experience, Chris has particular expertise and interest in the care, restoration and sympathetic adaptation of historic buildings. The John O Groats Mill

The John O'Groats watermill is almost certainly the last grain mill to be built in Scotland. In use until 2001 and still completely intact. A time capsule, inside it is exactly as it was over a hundred years ago.

John O’Groats Mill is part of @DoorsOpenDays again this year on 18th September 2021. If you are in the area, go along and learn more about the history of the building and the future proposals.

Caithness projects hailed as 'incredibly exciting' after getting a share of Highland Coastal Communities Fund

A dozen Caithness projects have have been hailed as "incredibly exciting" after being awarded more than £300,000 between them.

Congratulations to John O’Groats Mill Trust for securing funding from the Highland Coastal Communities Fund for the all-abilities trail from the car park at John O'Groats along the coast to the mill.

My Prince Philip story; I met him once when I was employed by Studio SP as a conservation architect for the refurbishment of The Highlanders’ Museum at Fort George. It was a project I had been working on for over 2.5 years and when I was introduced to him, he quipped, “Architect? Not much for you to do here.” He was in his 90s and he must have met over 100 people that day and had a comment/query for each of them.
