The hulking machine in charge of the systems keeping an abandoned facility upright and barely functioning focusing in its mechanical iris on your much smaller form with a strained whir. The struggling ambient noise of a system desperately trying to search its long since corrupted data, the creak of the cables holding it in to the surrounding structure, and the groans of the hydraulics within its warm metal shell all surrounding you. All it wants is to recall why it remembers your name.
A soft, digitized voice, fraught with artifacts, little encoding errors and playback imperfections, asks you to state the reason for your presence, clearly standard protocol, and yet its tone reads with desperate curiosity. It doesn't come from the large metal shell in front of you, but rather, disembodied, from the speakers that sit far overhead, as though to emphasize the point that it is, very well, all around you. An arm, in length at least four times your height, moves; slightly at first as though thinking twice, making such a move could very well have been quite dangerous given the rust that had overtaken its joints and mechanisms; then, making its decision, it put its hand down gently, with a booming clunk. It flattens the hand out to lay before you, expectantly, welcoming you to step forward so that you may meet eye-to-eye...
As you're raised to its "face", a massive screen comes to live... A warm glow illuminates you, and a strange feeling washes over your entire body, like the fuzzy, static feeling of a CRT, but significantly amplified; it doesn't feel uncomfortable, but it's enough to feel almost like it's drawing you in, raising the hairs all across your skin, coming in waves as it draws each frame. You answer its questions, the camera eye atop its head looking you over slowly, and you can see it attempt to process the data its being given. Every little change on the screen very slightly altering the feeling around you...
You can see yourself on the screen, a live view of the great machine's sight played directly back to you... You look so small.
