i keep thinking about modern, and how they all come together from tiny connections from each other. monty, jasper, clarke and wells have known each other forever. clarke, octavia, harper and zoe all get roomed together during freshman year, with raven and finn coming into the picture after harper introduces them to the rest of the group. bellamy is octavia's older sister and their defacto designated driver. murphy is friends or... well somewhat friends with bellamy, and harper and murphy are funny together so he eventually becomes a fixture in their lives. echo, emori, lincoln and lexa are all added to group after respectively dating bellamy, emori, octavia and clarke. monroe and miller are lab partners, and for some fucking reason, harper's former best friend from middle before he moved to the big city and lost contact with everyone. eventually everyone is exactly where they need to be for each other.

i need to write more about this, but like.... harper suffers from chronic pains after the mountain. especially around the base of her spine and the joints. it disables her a lot during the s2-s3 gap, and with a Lot of remedies, pushing through for the most part and simply getting used to the pain, she able to somewhat lead her old normal life. she joins the guardsman with a glowing recommendation from bellamy and abby respectively and for that time period in her life, she enjoys feeling useful and like she is doing something to protect herself and her friends.

i keep thinking also about like how much... harper wanted and love her dad when she was younger. before all of the shit that came with his sickness and the way that he started treating women after her mom left and how she still tried, she became a cadet (one of the youngest women to be invited to join and pass the physicals in forever), she was good at her job, because of her dad. because he would be proud of her if she did good. and they were happy. for a good six months, harper's dad was ecstatic, and she felt useful and good and needed. but then her dad's condition starts to get worse and they won't give them the medication he needs and she just... start stealing it. it's easy as a cadet and he does get better so she rationalizes everything and excuses herself from the crime, until her dad hands her in and she goes in the skybox.
