Update: I now have a job as a maintenance engineer yippee! I kind of am not for the way the tech industry is going tbh. I find programming fun still, so this is now a hobby blog <3
Before I tried to keep it mostly my posts here, but I'm going to repost more blogs that I admire and are inspiration so it's not a wasteland.
I'm interested in the indie web dev scene so I might look more into that. Thank you for following me this far . :))

I am starting SQL on Codecademy today! I know nothing about databases, despite taking a class on in 2020 (š ). My sister has a bunch of photos from when she made a baking instagram and I want to make a website using them. I'm thinking a recipe that you can search based on ingredients. I'm taking a break from JavaScript, so the backend will be using Flask. I love JavaScript, but I'm a bit bored of it right now tbh. I'll try to update about this project, but this blog is kind of a mess (oops).

This past week was medium productive. I was working really hard on freecodecamp, but then I had a thought. Most of the jobs around me require C++ knowledge and I have zero. So I may switch gears AGAIN. I have a friend who has agreed to work on a project with me so I feel a bit more excited. C++ is so intimidating still.
Weekly Goals (6/16 - 6/22)
This week I'm going to try to catch up on the Windows OS course I'm taking. Kinda want to drop it since I'm working on other goals right now, but then I'd lose money..
Finish freecodecamp Responsive Web Design certificate
Work on redoing my old college group project in React
Do some of Udemy course "100 days of code in python" lessons
Non-tech:
Watch the new inside out movie
Start a new book?
Coming back to web development after a break of a year or so. Iāve been doing a Python Udemy course just to get back into the mindset again, but Iām going to rework some old projects into React. Iām giving myself one month to catch up again, then seeking out potential job opportunities again. š«”
New project yippee!
I started working some more on my art portfolio site. I've really been liking minimalistic ui recently. The site is mobile friendly (thank u flexbox) and I think the layout is very clean. Right now I'm really working on this feature where when you click on a art piece, it'll enlarge it and center it. I've got it so it can enlarge, but not centered or become small againš„². I added a video for demonstration purposes, so mini face reveal haha. Anyway, I'll keep working on this and post more updates later. :p

little update since I havenāt posted in a while :)
Iām still working at my tech support job and I recently started taking some classes in the field of IT (networking/security). On the web dev side, Iāve taken a break from JavaScript and been just playing around with layout and responsiveness. I can confidently say Iām really comfortable in HTML/CSS lol. I can center a div so well šŖ . And I cannot tell you the joy I get when my responsive css works. I start jumping in excitement, like this is what makes me love programming. Iām still eyeing React, but I think I want to get more comfortable with JavaScript. Still kind of hard for me, like event listeners and other DOM things.
Some goals for this year:
Want to be comfortable with JavaScript and MAYBE start React
Learn the design aspect of web development
Make a friend thatās interested in all of this :)
And the big overall goal of getting a permanent, full time position in tech.

Look how cute, they put ghost in my coffee!! š„ŗToday I am working on more FreeCodeCamp lessons. I love js I wonder if that makes me weird. I had an interview today, I think I did well but Iām not sure. Iāll work on some more leetcode-esque python later today.
10-24-23
I've been practicing DOM manipulation recently, so I built 2 small experiments on codepen. One is a Hex code color lookup that displays the color when you search in then input box. The other is a calculator that functions like a simple irl calculator (meaning you have to push the buttons). I'm still working on the calculator. I still need to figure out how to efficiently add and subtract using the buttons š¤. I think I'll also add a clear button near the bottom, so you don't have to refresh the page at any point. I'm still really basic with this front-end/ui development, but I'm just trusting the process. :)

Tonights goals:
Finish 2 codewars
Continue Freecodecamp javascript data structures & algorithms
Practice dom manipulation
apply to jobs
walk 30min
Got a job rejection email so that was kind of sad. But I also got a response back from a recruiter, so I guess it cancels out? š¤
10-15-23 Goals
Continue FreeCodeCamp ES6 lessons
Practice DOM manipulation
Brainstorm project ideas (frontend)
Hello! I am back ...(I was going thru it š). I'm currently working through Freecodecamp's Javascript Algorithms & Data Structures course. I used to be so scared of Javascript for some reason, but I'm slowly getting more comfortable so yay! I've also kind of hit a coding block. I feel so tired after only coding for a little while. I think it's because I feel the pressure of getting a full-time position now that I graduated. I began to start getting anxiety pulling up anything related to data structures/algorithms :( . The best way to push past it is to take it in small steps, while making projects that are fun and interesting. It is soo easy to get overwhelmed, especially if you want to learn everything like me. Time to learn better time management šµāš« .
Quick side note here thatās not a project post:
I got my first web developer interview!! Itās this Friday and I am soooo nervous. I have a bit of impostor syndrome, so that doesnāt help š. Iāve been practicing my answers to behavioral questions bc I believe that will be most prominent for this particular position. Hopefully Iāll get the job! Fingers crossed

Finished! I am finally done building my gfās art portfolio website. This was really fun to plan and create, I made it using standard html/css/javascript combo. It was my present to her for our 9 months and she really liked it. š©· Iām not going to post the link to the live site yet, bc I want to finish up the final touches (like get higher quality images of her art). I really wanted to have a cute yet simple theme for the site, as my plan is to come out with newer phases of the website. Eventually I want to create it in React or Django so I can possibly have a way for her to add new portfolio pieces herself, without needing me to help her.
Iām not really good at making blog posts, I never know what to say š. Hopefully my motivation will stay so I can work on more and complete projects.
7-22-23
Hello everyone! Iāve been really sick the past week and low mentally, so I havenāt really done anything at all really. Iām feeling a lot better today so Iāve been trying to teach myself React. Iām going to try to recreate an old project I created with Bootstrap. The project is an art shop with different art pieces for sale. Fun fact I also like to draw, so Iām going to incorporate that into it as well. š I added a picture of one of the potential pieces that will be displayed.

Hello š! I havenāt been working on my website that much this past week, as I start a new job on Monday (wooo!). Iāve been trying to fix my gaming PC, but Iāve come to the conclusion Iām going to need to replace some parts š. Itās been having issues with its graphics card for a while, and I think the PCI pins (or whatever theyāre called) are bent beyond repair. Very sad news :( bc where will I play the Sims now. Computers are my love so Iām actually excited to work on it more when I can afford the parts. For now Iāll focus on my fruit site and my GitHub page!
6-13-23
Iām working on my JavaScript practice site today. Iām trying to warm up on html/css because I spend way way too much time looking up styling syntax. The website is a home for fruit and veggie themed games. Itās in the ugly stage right now, so Iām hiding it from view.
To-do:
Add styling to the rest of the fruit veggie website
Add more content to GitHub personal readme
Read a chapter of my new book!
