Lily pushed open the door with her hip, iced coffee in one hand, tote bag hanging off her elbow. “Hey,” she announced to absolutely no one in particular, “someone tell me something interesting before I start causing problems on purpose.” She dropped into the closest seat like she lived there, already kicking her shoes off. “So what’re we doing? Because I’m bored and that’s dangerous.”
@ciderstarters
mali turned as she heard the little chime of the bells go off indicating someone had entered her flower shop. an affectionate smile washed over her features seeing lily, and she couldn't help but to laugh as her brows shot up at the other's remarks. “ you ? cause problems on purpose ? never ! " she teased, going to carry the bucket of flowers over to where lily was. “ you could help me with arranging these centerpieces that are due today. i can't pay you, but i can treat you to coffee or dinner. "
Closed Starter for @mcldavite Location: Mali's Home
It wasn't like Wes to show up out of the blue to Mali's house, but here he was, in her driveway at eight o'clock in the evening. The upcoming holiday had him feeling a little lonelier than usual. He knew Mabel would be around the day of Thanksgiving and the weekend after, but that time couldn't come soon enough. He knocked on the door sheepishly hoping she would at least answer the door. The cold November air nipped at his cheeks as he waited on the porch.
daylight savings and the weight of the upcoming holiday were kicking mali's butt. the emptiness of her home felt even greater than it had in previous weeks. it was an emptiness that even her little cat basil couldn't completely heal. as she sat on the couch in her pajamas, cat in her lap and warm tea in a mug she wrapped her hands around, she read the same line of her book over and over again, her mind truly everywhere else but with the words on the pages in front of her. the knock at the door pulled her out of her thoughts, and dark brows knitted together in confusion. she wasn't expecting anyone, was she ?
the florist gently scooped up the calico and placed him down on the cushion next to her so she could rise from the couch and padded over to the door, where she rose on her tip toes to peer out the tiny glass cut-outs of the door to see who was there. wes.
she unlocked it and opened the door, the warmth of her home meeting the chill of the november evening. “ wes .. hey. " she pulled her arms around herself as a breeze blew past and she quickly shuffled out of the way to make room for him. " come in. it's too cold out there. "
