It’s been a big week of fully independent @dolby_atmos7.1 releases for me this week. It’s been a big learning curve and a bit of an investment but I’m so pleased with how these new mixes are translating out into the real world. Wow!!! Massive new debut single release for the incredible @avital.greenberg. My mate @pezfb from @marketthemusic put us together a few months ago, and this is her first release. A killer tune that she wrote, played piano and sung all the vocals on, while I did all the rest. Number 1 on singer songwriter chart and number 15 on all genres chart! Massive!! Life hey? Never to be taken for granted. Every day that we live we have a responsibility to really live. And part of living is to serve others in our community who need help. My family raised my brothers and I this way, and this is how I live. When I was about 16 I went to the blood bank with that superhero big brother of mine @paulallencarpenter. He had become a donor. And I always wanted to be like him, so at 17 I made my first donation. 36 years later I’ve reached a massive personal milestone of 150 donations. I’ve been excited about getting to this point and getting here already feels like one of my proudest moments. I look forward to the next 50 and onward, because this truly is a lifetime commitment. The nurse told me today that 1 in 3 people in Australia will need a blood product at some point. But only 1 in 30 donate. The numbers don’t add up. So, I implore you... if you’re healthy, can handle needles and can donate, please please consider it. As the nurse said today, this bag of blood, literally, saves lives. Happy single release day!! No matter how many times I release something, there’s still an energy that comes from having something that you put your artistic heart into out in the world. I’m feeling that today. My talented songwriting friend @katrina_burgoyne helped me finish this one. She wrote the second chorus which was GENIUS!! Who has two choruses in a song? And @kyliewhitney helped me shape the mix to make it say what I wanted to say. Yesterday was a good day. For the first time, a record I produced is number 1 on the ARIA charts. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m so proud of @jettyroad for seeing the big task ahead to get themselves back after a long break, and the faith they had in me and my little room at @lovehzstudios. They’re not only great singers and players, but some of the best people you can imagine. This is their moment and they and their team deserve it. But I’ll just quietly say I’m proud of myself. My old mate Carl Hemmings of The Greater Tapestry is in today recording a single. So he gets to be the first one to play our custom designed @metrodrums hybrid toms. The lug placement and shell design allow these to look, sound and feel like legit #concerttoms that can easily be converted to standard toms.
