Unofficial Tumblr home of The Usher Foundation: East of Washington, DC.
Who are you?
My name is Marc Coleman, and I'm the Head Archivist at the Usher Foundation: East. My pronouns are He/She/They. I am responsible for recording and preserving statements and other documents related to the work we do here at Usher. My coworkers have described me as "like a scary blue-eyed husky if it was a human with brown eyes."
What is your history?
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and studied Fine Art at Harvard with a concentration in Art History. I spent time as an intern at the Special Archives at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City before coming to the Usher Foundation.
What is the Usher Foundation?
The Usher Foundation is a nonprofit academic institution in Washington, DC dedicated to the study of accounts of supernatural phenomena. We take statements from the public regarding alleged supernatural experiences, which we record and preserve for future research.
How should I submit my statement?
We accept written or spoken statements in-person at our Washington, DC location. We also accept spoken statements over the phone through our official tip line, as well as written statements through our official email and through submissions on this blog.
What should I include/not include in my statement?
Please include your full name, as well as the date the incident occurred and the date of filing. Describe the incident in as much detail as possible as best as you remember it. This will not be as difficult as you might think once you begin writing. Be sure to include full names for anyone else mentioned in your statement, and try to provide contact information for anyone who might be able to corroborate your story.
Please do not submit secondhand accounts, rumors, fiction, or pranks. We'll know if you did and it's really annoying.
Why are there two of you?
The United States is a big country and it's impractical for one location to handle statements for all 50 states. Therefore, states west of Kansas should contact the Usher Foundation: West in Los Angeles, California.
How can I contact the Usher Foundation: West?
That is not my problem.
