He let out a short, bursting chuckle as she considered the idea that being in law should be as good as medical. “Clearly you have not met strict Japanese parents, that demand their sons to be neurosurgeons.” Hanzo grinned with a shrug, replacing the notepad in his binder until she was ready to give him her drink order. “Already finished pre, huh? You don’t look old enough to be two years into grad school.” He tapped his pencil on his notebook a moment in thought. “What got you into med? Everyone has that spark moment, right?” He quickly jotted a roman numeral matching a line in his text, glancing up to her afterward.

“clearly i have not.” she laughed softly, beginning to  make her notes for this chapter of the textbook. “well i am twenty two now so i guess i could be considered quite young for my program. i graduated high school  at 16 and i’ve been attending university to study medicine since.”  she explained trying to make it as nonchalant as possible so it didn’t come off like she was bragging. “my parents were felid medics for the army and i wanted  to be just like them. i just want to help people like they did and the sooner i get to do that, the better.”

They call me Hanzo.” Another small smile tilted at his lips before he cocked his head in the direction of her books. “Pre-Med?” He inquired, his gaze lingering on the texts for a moment as he grabbed a small pad of post-it notes, “I’m sure my parents would like a trade.” An awkward chuckle as Hanzo fell into a pattern of jotting down important page numbers. “Would you like that coffee now or later?”

"its nice to meet you hanzo.” the blonde gave him a  shy smile as she shook his hand. “i’m actually on my  second year doing my m.d. i already finished the pre  med program.” she corrected him, a slight flush appearing  on her cheeks. she always felt embarrassed talking  about her schooling since she was so ahead of most  people working towards the same profession as her.  “what kind of parent wouldn’t wan’t a lawyer for a son?  thats a pretty good career too.” she began getting settled  in, opening up her textbook to the bookmarked page and  grabbing her notebook from her bag. “i think i’ll wait a little  bit for that coffee if thats alright.”

┌Hanzo hadn’t been studying long, luckily, but he’d already spread himself and his hefty law tomes all over the desk top - “Oh,” he glanced up to her, a tired and slightly hopeful expression on his face; “I’ll grab you a coffee if we could share the table?” His lips twitched into (what he hoped was) a friendly smile, and he gently pulled his books away from the other chair.┐

Hanzo hadn’t been studying long, luckily, but he’d already the blonde didn’t expect him to offer to share the table,  let alone offer to buy her coffee as well. normally, the  person who took her table would tell her to get lost or to  find somewhere else to study. “thank you, that is extremely  sweet of you.” she smiled, setting her three medical  textbooks down on the other side of the table. “i’m  angela by the way. its nice to meet you.”
