HeartBreak Sly 3 is a beautiful masterpiece. I couldn’t rush and listen to this album because Sly’s albums are always full of hidden bars and gems. The ear for production and different cadences Sly brings to each song really gives this album a ton of replay value. My lordt the flow switchups especially on “Nemo” are pure genius! “What’s the Point” gotta be on everyone’s playlist this summer! Issa JAMMMMMMM!!! Sly and 95 JayGee never miss on collabs and “Direct” is another bop! The album really is a rollercoaster of emotions where it sounds like Sly is conflicted on going back to the woman in question since he has been with her through the darkest times, but at the same time he feels like he should move on because he realizes he is putting more effort and love into this “seasaw” relationship (Sly is holding everything down while the woman in question remains lifted up). An example of this is how Sly and The Great Y.H stake their claim to not want to be bothered on “Antisocial”, but then Sly wants a specific someone to “Believe in Love”. Even on “Biggest Flex”, Sly makes his claim that the specific someone has changed both of their lives for the better to the point where Sly feels lost without this person on “Nemo”. But then things change when Sly questions if this specific someone ever loved him on “Never Loved Me” and then after being there for this woman for a while, she had the audacity to ghost Sly on “Casper”. “Outta Service” is a moment of reflection for Sly. This song sounds like Sly came to the conclusion that he has finally decided to be here for himself rather than continue to branch out to other people which is preventing his own personal growth. Heartbreak Sly 3 reveals a common human nature trait which is indecisiveness. Sly confirms the indecisiveness theme on the album cover by being in the crossroads between the two women and not knowing who to choose. Somedays we feel like we know what we want and deserve in life while at the same time, we go back to old habits, feelings and desires that no longer serve us and try to fix them to our liking in our wildest imaginations.
