readysetgaikokujin reblogged this from bonesmakenoise and added: My summer outfit of choice is only crop tops indefinitely, but living in Japan has me usually stuffing a flannel half-sleeve in my purse for when the stares become too much haha
londett reblogged this from todayintokyo and added:after suffering pneumonia that left me half-healthed for years (maybe for ever), i’m absolutely in favour of ppl covering their upper bodies! (the times when I had to change clothes and be like few seconds without wearing 3-5 warm shirts at once were agony -﹏-‘)
Suffice it to say low-slung jeans were never popular in Japan.
@maryloy, yup, haramaki (belly warmers for men) and haraobi (belly warmers for pregnant women) seem to be A Thing.
@londett, if I could, I’d wear my standard outfit every day, including to work: too big man’s shirt, faded Levi’s, scruffy hiking boots. Alas, ‘tis not to be. I wish you lots of genki-ness.
PS: Even trees wear belly bands called komomaki, but it’s pest control, not temperature control. :D
