Funny how people think racism is only against black people. I worked a case one time where the victim was a white person viciously attacked by black people. This client was literally just walking down the street and ambushed, called anti-white slurs and told to stay out of the neighborhood.

The New Scooby Doo Movies S1E11: The Ghostly Creep From the Deep

Location: Florida, near Miami

Special Guest: the Harlem Globetrotters

Scooby Snack: refused!? An entire pack to the fishes!?

Actual crimes committed: kidnapping, illegal oil drilling

Yay!! This is the episode I've been waiting for! I have all the Harlem Globetrotters episodes on dvd and they were my favorite!

So. This is the first episode of Scooby Doo featuring Black characters. It did indeed take until a crossover episode. The benefit is they're fully developed characters with their own show! Which I just learned and I am excited to watch!

I swear these characters were not this gray when I watched this before. I'm going to have to pull out my other dvd and compare because damn they're ashy.

Aaaaaaaand they crashed the Mystery Machine. And also the bus.

Interesting to see the point of view of the "ghost."

Basketball game! I remember this! With the music in the background!

That man's trying to be spooky scary and uses the word "skedaddle," smh.

Shaggy thought the ship controls were belay pins, and a few minutes later when the pirates are approaching the gang, they're armed with belay pins! Which according to 5e deals 1d4+1 bludgeoning damage.

Swampy Pete is under the impression he has been nothing but helpful this entire time. Lt. Pete Duggan was actually semi responsible in trying to keep the kids away from the crimes.

I remember the basketball game at the end very well too. I really like these episodes. I'll definitely have to watch the Harlem Globetrotters show.

This show was my introduction into who the Harlem Globetrotters are, what they do, and why they're important. A valuable and informative part of my childhood, in addition to being a beloved favorite.

The New Scooby Doo Movies S1E?: The Curse of the Red Baron

Today Shaggy's directions are making Fred nervous.

Aaaaaaaaaand they crashed the Mystery Machine.

And also the Stooge-mobile.

Is the little bat going to be in this episode? From the first episode?

Oooh! The fertilizer killed the plant! But the Baron destroyed the fertilizer- on accident maybe. Is the Baron both chasing off pilots AND tampering with the fertilizer?

Scooby growled at the mechanic a lot like the way he growled and chased the the son of the Red Baron little plane. That seems so obvious though.

Why is the Red Baron so goofy? 😂 bouncy bouncy.

Carving "Help" into the corn field is funny- but a little out of the ordinary for a scooby doo bit.

Velma is so unbothered whenever she ends up in A Situation. She's in it for the ride even if that ride is likely to end in a firey plane crash.

Wait, is the lake oil? Are we trying to buy the land on the cheap to pump for oil?

Y'know there really are quite a few mills in this show. Something creepy about old abandoned wood buildings with creaky spinny wheels and rusted metal saws. I love it.

He speaks! The Red Baron speaks. "Cowbells? Hmm."

Juicy corn > fear

Snoopy was mentioned early in the episode. Was this entire episode based on a joke to put Scooby on the little plane like Snoopy?

Seigfried. He's German. That's why he chose the Red Baron. And the springs were just to make him spookier, but the result was silly. Even the characters make fun of it a few times.

Ah. No. We're trying to buy the land on the cheap to sell to the county for an air field.

Not my favorite episode but not bad! The ghost being a historical figure with no ties to the area is a choice. It doesn't land for me but that's just personal preference.

The New Scooby Doo Movies S1E10: Scooby Doo Meets Laurel and Hardy

Location: Mackinak Lodge

Special Guest: Laurel and Hardy

Actual Crimes Committed: Grand Theft Auto

We're going skiing again! The gang likes to ski, except for Shag and Scoob who can't ski.

I don't think I've ever actually seen a Laurel and Hardy skit. I know they exist, but nothing beyond their appearance feels familiar.

I don't think the Mystery Machine has heat.

ANOTHER CAR CRASH. Not the Mystery Machine today.

The Ghost of Bigfoot omg. It's not a yeti or abominable snowman, it's the ghost of bigfoot.

I love that there's a solid legend. Mountainman dead in the snow, he's here to getcha.

Velma's got her curlers in. She gets dismissed as frumpy or not caring about her appearance, but that's not true. She's cute as hell and she works for it.

I don't know which one is Laurel and which one is Hardy but I do love Ollie and Stanley so far.

How is bigfoot getting to the windows. They took the elevator to get to their rooms. Yeah, rooms 21-25. They're on the second floor.

That was the scariest night in their life? I suppose he was actively chasing them. But you've been almost murdered before.

Ollie is Hardy! Stanley is Laurel! We have learned!

TWO car crashes this episode!

Hans Eidelweiss will teach Shaggy how to ski. I really hope he's not involved and is just a friendly guy.

Somebody get Scooby some shoes. His poor paws are freezing!

Is Stanley like his child/little brother? Ollie looks out for him.

The secret passages and the list of license plate numbers are so good. I love mysteries and puzzles and clues.

This episode has a lot of "protect the girls" going on. More than usual. And they're doing a really bad job of it. All that's happening is less Velma and Daphne content. >:(

The New Scooby Doo Movies S1E9: The Spooky Fog

Scooby Snack Count: three! Yay! It's been a couple episodes. Plus 30! Making up for previous episodes!

Very curious if this episode will clear up the confusion from the last Don Knotts episode. It was unclear whether he was playing himself or the character of Homer Pipsqueak?

The Juneberry sign with the ominously decreasing population, haha. It's supposed to just be a dying town, but so many people leaving so fast could be spooky.

Okay! So he is Don Knotts! Again, Scooby is the first to recognize him!

Sheriff Dandy Griffin. Doesn't sound familiar at all.

Bro they stop in front of hotel and an el taco why are they sleeping in jail.

Scooby Doo is equally in love with Don Knotts and Sandy Duncan. He has his favorites.

I love thick, dark fog specifically because it reminds me of Scooby Doo. An episode where the fog IS the scary thing is fun.

AND they're investigating a cemetery? Good Spooky Scooby Fun

The nooses on the hanging tree were unexpected. Scooby Doo obviously referencing real death catches me off guard every time. Most of the references are so sanitized or made funny, but I like when it's a little darker. I also like that it's not relevant at all. The Boot Hill Gang aren't the supposed ghosts. It's just ambiance.

Scooby is being so brave for Daphne. He deserves all the Scooby Snacks.

Velma giving an impromptu geology lesson, love her. I would have also critiqued the brontosaurus having carnivore teeth, but that's just me.

I like that they recognized the illusions. They've come across that tech before. They're learning 🥹

This episode is just the crew having fun drawing as many cool ghosts as they can. I hope they had so much fun. What's the deal with the Red Eyed Vulture that got into the jail then? Was that an illusion? Is it just a bird?

Shaggy making Scooby leap to the ledge like he isn't literally a trained gymnast. He just didn't want to.

Don Knotts is traumatized. Poor buddy.

They left Scooby! Scooby wanted to stay with Don! Proof that Don Knotts and Sandy Duncan are really his favorites.

I almost definitely have *not* seen that episode. I liked it! A little weak in the ghost story department, but the bits were cute, I liked Don Knotts, and it held up pretty well. It was very fun.

30 seconds in and I understand why she divorced him. That's mean. I shouldn't say that. But apparently, though they were still married, their relationship was not romantic at this point.

It's not the Mystery Machine that crashed this time!

Lol the ghost communicates via heavy breathing.

A couple of outdated phrases already. That's unfortunate.

Scooby is mistaken for the Hound of the Baskervilles from the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies. That movie came out in 1939 (this episode is from 1972).

Pescado diabolico- fish of the devil, the evil god of sharks. That's nice.

OMG HE'S SO CUTE

Some of Sonny and Cher's jokes are funny, but a lot of them are just being mean to each other. Not something that aged super well. Like. I get it. And I hope they were both having fun. But I really don't vibe with it today. They're also playing exaggerated versions of themselves- the characters they play on tv. So it's a little different.

"Ancient bottles" with the seal of an ancient Spanish King and it says "Numero Uno." Okay buddy 😭

I remember the catfish through the glass bottom boat!

The New Scooby Doo Movies S1E7: Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hyde

Location: Mammoth Studios, presumably Hollywood

Shaggy said there have been two Jekyll and Hyde movies. Based on his pronounciation of Jekyll (JEK-el instead of JEE-kel (actually he says JAY-kel but it's closer)) he means the 1941 remake of the 1931 movie, and probably the 1951 Son of Dr. Jekyll.

AND THEY CRASHED THE MYSTERY MACHINE! Then Fred calls her "the car." Smh. This series disrespects her so much.

The slightly different ways they draw Sandy, Shirley, and Daphne in the same outfit is cute. They're each unique but still matching.

This series leans pretty heavy into Shaggy being frustrated or angry with Scooby. I'm not super fond of that portrayal. I prefer the annoyance tempered with fondness and amusement. He just seems kinda mean in these episodes. "I'm sending you to driving school" is funny, though.

Daphne is kidnapped! Mistaken identity, but still.

Xavier Z. Fairchild having his Phantom of the Opera moment. That's a different book.

I don't really remember any of this episode! This one is definitely new to me. I liked it!

The New Scooby Doo Movies S1E6: A Good Medium is Rare

So far this house exists only to mess with Shaggy. Poor guy.

The bit with the floor falling out and the gang constantly avoiding it is adorable. I love seeing the gang's cluelessness work in their favor for once.

Why are the jokes in the Egypt section so bad? "When in Egypt do as Egyptians do!" "3 mummies and no poppy!" "Off to Mummyopolis!" These aren't landing, sorry guys.

MM, Magic Mansion, I see what's happening. "The spirit world!" *eyebrow wiggle*

I'm not 100% sure I remember this episode, but the guy moving the moss to the other side of the tree is very familiar. And the counting eyes scene!

The neighbor calls the police on the gang? Someone in Scooby Doo calls the police immediately upon suspecting a crime? Wild.

The costumes coming out after the criminals are revealed is a fun twist. Those costumes aren't to scare the gang or Ms. Diller, they're purely to disguise their identities from good neighbors who call the cops immediately upon seeing strangers crawl through their neighbor's window.

Lucas x Madame Zokar? Alright. I still don't buy that they weren't in on the plot. Why was Madame Zokar in the house? How did the magicians get Zokar to ask the right questions if she wasn't involved?

I only vaguely remember that episode, but it was fun! The actual events are purely a robbery plot. The ghosts were all either explicitly fake or Ms. Diller talking about her husbands.

I only ever saw half of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner but this is not how I remember it.

Aww, Scooby is a big fan of Don Knotts. Don Knotts is already having the time of his life.

I love spooky mansions with spooky secrets. I would also love to dress up in fun outfits and play different characters in my fancy house.

"I bet the cellar is just full of people who had their last meals!"

Daphne thinks this is a Bender family situation.

Freddy reading horror stories, lol. He's doing research. That's why he knows ghosts can't be nobody. They have to be the ghost of somebody.

Hallway chase scene yay! Just a regular score, though. Not a featured song.

Scooby tracking a specific brand of socks within a house where presumably everything is washed in the same detergent is arguably more impressive than finding the guy.

What happened to the neices? They don't get to feast? Presumably they're still on good terms with Uncle Moody so they'll get their inheritance eventually.

What's up with Don Knotts? He's in character the whole time. It's fun, but also it’s a little different. Scooby is the only one that ever recognizes him. Is the character involved Don Knotts or is it actually Detective Pipsqueak?
