We are truly brow beaten and trying to get our phones paid off along with getting some baby Tylenol. This has been a long and grueling trudge for us, a Salvadoran mother with a sick baby, my wife a Jewish trans woman, both of us union organizers who have been targeted at work and lost our jobs in the local nonprofit sector as austerity measures in escalate the whittling away of Portland homeless services during a historic high in evictions and adult poverty.

I have several job leads and interviews coming up. Our baby has an ear infection and is teething. She is crying. I need to keep our phones turned on to ensure we get work.

If you have extra money and want to contribute to our union survival fund we are still trying to collect unemployment.

Hey yall. I have discussed my homeless friend Dan sensitively on all 3 pages before. But he's not just an experiment on this page to extend the kind of help I offer to others. He's a 20 year old I regard as a kid in need of an olive branch from safe community. I had the power to feed him when we met. And so I consider my obligation to try for someone I care for.

After I stopped moving money for others in my personal accounts, we fell out over the boundary.

But Dan has no stability, a small network and often no food. He's a human being I care for deeply who deserves to eat. If mutual aid is for anything, it's this.

I am setting a small goal of 200 usd for him. To make sure he is fed over the next few weeks. And lucky for Americans in some ways because I'm certain I can point him to more resources, personally.

Hey its been awhile and there are few notes on this post but Dan's been hitting me up for cash recently and this week I am specifically tight because I just paid rent and have weekend plans (for my sanity) and so I just am gonna queue this post to ask that anyone who can help this dumb kid eat, do that. It would make no sense regardless of my feelings about his insistence on being hands off to not include him in my mission when I have the power to help someone struggling and he hasn't wronged me. I still have his blessing to share and make these posts and that is the best I can do.

200 dollars would help him eat for two weeks if he's smart with it. And so! I am resetting his goal to 200.

It's not enough to speak on or to bring visibility to. And it's not relevant to further call out. If they're a nonblack minority from anywhere.

And they do this because it will always be socially acceptable to silence black people. From anywhere.

The first goth I ever saw in person was an impossibly GORGEOUS late 90s goth girl.

She might have been like 19 or 21, she was with her dad at the supermarket. I was 6. I still remember exactly how she looked, at almost 35. I was mesmerized, I tried to discreetly follow her around the halls just to get to stare at her some more. The giant spikes of her dog collar, the fishnets on her legs, her leather mini and corset top, her makeup, her giant boots, her hair pulled back into a sleek high ponytail.

I'm an adult goth myself now. Kids usually LOVE my style. "Worst" instance I've had is that some months ago, a little 5-ish years old girl walking by with her parents went 😰 and said "Oh, how scary... A WITCH" which... Was fucking hilarious, easily a top 10 experience.

Deadly egg recall

The FDA has upgraded an egg recall issued last month to “Class I,” its highest risk level, as it warns the public that consuming the products could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The recall of 1,589,577 dozen white-shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs was initially issued by Midwest Poultry Services in late July, which warned they might be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis.

According to the company, the eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas between June 6 and July 3 and have sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and August 17. The recalled egg cartons have either the code P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian Dates between 157-184.

Recalled eggs were shipped to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.  Recalled eggs were available to consumers at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana; Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and other smaller retail and foodservice outlets in these states plus Mississippi and New Mexico.

and in fighting antiblackness within canada and europe it is so so so important to acknowledge these places's participation in and benefit from the transantlantic slave trade. Slavery is not just the US's dirty past, it is a triangular industry lasting centuries that white people in the united states, canada, and europe benefitted from and continue to benefit from to this day. Slavery was good for white canadians and white europeans. They liked it. they encouraged it. they had slaves, they profited from the slave trade, and they used products grown from US slave labour in every day life. The slavery of Black people would not have been possible on the sheer scale at which it happened if it were not for active, consistent participation from europe and canada.
