Hello to all the medievalists!
This is my side blog for all the non star wars stuff ;-)
I hope to see many cool handycrafts. My specialities are tabletweaving and sewing clothes from the 13th century.

Looks like i glued the band to the fabric...
SPARKLY
Finished scarf! Very laid back project to get back into the swing of things. I definitely enjoyed doing a complicated twill pattern and will be doing more in the future. It’s very soft and light but should be very warm considering it’s 1/3 alpaca and can be wrapped a whole lot.
Beautiful colors! And i can feel the softness...
ok which one of you let your creature walk all over my warp:
Husband wanted me to test the new tension peg.
This ist my test subject:
Tension peg, yarn and pattern are really fine!
And here for you:

IT'S DONE AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL
That's perfect! 🤩
Yesterday i watched a weavers porn:
🤣🤣🤣
Thick wool, herbal dyed...fast weaving 😁
Here you see the weavers best friend: A thin weft!
If you want a crisp and clean pattern, use a thin weft. The weft won't show up and hides perfectly.
On my large loom i'm weaving some wires 😵💫
100% linen NM20/2...you could easily sew with it. I like the colours, because they look quite naturally.
And i can tell you: The tension, the tension, the tension...nothing for a beginner. 20 years ago i would have freaked out totally!
Now i have a cat loom!
😻😻😻
For @medievaleftea since I commented on your post! Here is my tiny inkle loom next to my full sized Beka inkle, and again by itself.
The mini loom was made by a lady in my SCA barony. She makes these in bulk and brings them to classes she teaches, so everyone goes home with a loom and a set of 12 cards. She just started making left-handed looms and was very excited when I came to class, since she wanted to know if it made a difference (and I did find it a lot easier to use than the Beka loom!) The mini loom makes about a yard at a time.
And I'm working on an interpretation of the Kaupang band, just in dreamy colors!
Thank you for sharing your little one!
Of course i'll show the testing object to you.
The first thing i'm weaving on my new mini loom is a simple band with a chain pattern in popping colours:
You want to make this one too?

It is SO CUTE!
I'd like to introduce my new travelling buddy...a really tiny loom to put in a bag an weave where ever i want to 😍
It is just 50cm long.
My dragon loom is a big guy in comparison.
My husband made it as a lefty loom. I'm so proud of him 🤩
From the wood this one was made he made a second one ... does anyone need a tiny travellers loom?
So soft...chenille yarn in three colors.
I change the color after throwing a D20...

It is winter an even the yarn has fur...
Blue chenille...and it is soooo easy to weave with!
