30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 26
Was any research involved (historical or otherwise) in your NaNo prep?
A bit. Some that I'd rather not tell you because it is either 1) a spoiler, or 2) not something you would want to know.

30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 26
Was any research involved (historical or otherwise) in your NaNo prep?
A bit. Some that I'd rather not tell you because it is either 1) a spoiler, or 2) not something you would want to know.
I hate to say it, but NaNoWriMo is over for me :(
The words just aren't coming and other projects won't stop bugging me.
I'm looking at you, RIOT GIRL, CARE NO MORE, and ACADEMY NEBULA :|
I've also been in more of a reading mood lately, so yeah.
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 25
What are the names of at least two of your main characters? How did you choose their names?
I'm just going to name the ones I decided on on the first day of planning this story: Sebastian, Philip, Elias, Bernard, Clarisse, Bayard.
Since MedievalNovel is set in a time similar to the middle ages, I searched for names commonly used in the middle ages and chose from there. Sometimes meaning comes into the decision, but for this project I mostly paid attention to the way the name flowed, especially with Elias and Bernard, who are commonly called in the LORD Elias and LORD Bernard.
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 24
Is religion featured in your novel at all? If so, which ones? If it’s/they’re your own creations, describe it/them and how it/they play(s) a part in your characters’ lives.
Not really to Sebastian or Philip, who are the two main characters, but some of the lords probably follow a religion similar to Christianity or Catholicism. The religion really only concerns the aspects of life and death and love and hate, but not really what actually happens in the story.
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 23
Do animals play any part in your story? If so, how do they add to it?
Not really. I do mention animals, but they're mostly just scenery or, in the case of dogs, pets. They don't really add anything to the plot other than for visuals.
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 22
If you’ve participated in or won NaNo before, what happened to your other novel efforts? Still in the revision process/querying publishers/scrapped it immediately/etc.
As I've said before, I DO NOT scrap things! No matter how bad it is! I am stubborn!
My first NaNo project is complete! Actually, I completed it more than a year ago. However, I am uber self-conscious and am afraid of the querying process. Also, I always get sidetrack with other project whenever I decide to sit down and write the damn stinkin' query! It'll happen someday. Not sure when, though :\
As for my second NaNo project, which was actually 2 projects (I cheated and switched a week into the month): the first is pretty much at the same place it was when I stopped progress on it, about 9,000 words in. The other is, uh, not in the state it was in any more. I'm talking about Transported, the project of 17 reincarnations! So yeah, still working on that one, and probably will be until the day I die. The first project of your writing career is ALWAYS the hardest one to let go.
*creeps into Tumblr*
Helloooooooooooooooo!
You're probably wondering why I'm not posting my progress any more.
Um, well, because I haven't been writing. The plot bunnies seem to have abandoned me. Or I guess you could say the ability to write good prose. The words just ain't flowin' like they used to.
And then I opened the doc of another of my oodles of projects, ACADEMY NEBULA, but don't worry, I didn't write anything for it. I just—I just wanted inspiration? Or maybe I was just procrastinating.
And THEN I started reading BEAUTIFUL CREATURES by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl and now I'm on to the second book and THEY'RE JUST SO GOOD!
And NOW I'm thinking about ANOTHER of my projects, OF TIME: A novella, after seeing a photo that is almost a SPITTING IMAGE of one of the settings in the story!
HOWEVER, I DID writing something for Day #21. 660 words actually. Right now I'm sitting, rocking back and forth at 27,355 words. Yes, I'm behind, by a lot, but I WILL CATCH UP! I hope. I doubt it, but I still hope!
So that's all. I might update you on Day #22 if anything exciting happens... or I might now. Depends how I feel...
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 21
With about 10 days left to this arguably traumatic experience, what are your plans and goals for your novel, should you successfully complete it?
Well, seeing as I have 16 projects in the works, do you really think I'm going to give this damn thing up and move on? NO!! I am stubborn. I cannot simply give up a project.
But I am far from the finish (my goal is 125,000 words).
I'll probably switch back and forth between other project and this for about a year or two before this project is finished considering its length and the subject matter. But yeah. Unless I can clearly see that it is truly a lost cause (I usually can't see one very clearly compared to other people), then I'll give it up, but it will nag at me until the day I die, I know it!
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 20
If you could meet one fictional character from any book you’ve ever read, who would it be, and why?
Just off the top of my head, Marethyu from the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott.
First, he's super powerful. Second, he knows just about everything. Third, he can travel through time. Fourth, he's just awesome!
There's one or two more reasons, but for the sake of not spoiling people who haven't read the series, I'm not going to mention them ;)
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 19
Which authors or books have inspired your own writing the most, and why?
That's, like, an impossible question! But I'll give it a try.
For this particular novel (I can call it a novel now, right?) Canadian fantasy novelist, Guy Gavriel Kay was a big inspiration, as well as Mr. Tolkien, of course, and Michael Scott!
For my other projects (remember, I have 16 of them), which are mostly YA and either contemporary or paranormal, I'd say John Green, Maggie Stiefvater, and Lesley Livingston. I also admire how Rick Riordan uses humour in his PJO and HoO series.
I'm not sure why, but I do know they are all superb authors!
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 18
Who is the antagonist in your novel? What drives their actions?
Well, I don't really like giving things away, so to be save I'll simply say the antagonist is the south kingdom. That's all I'm saying.
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 17
In what time period is your novel set? Is it in this world or another?
MedievalNovel is set in... the middle ages, I guess, but it's in a different world from our own. Or maybe it's something like Tolkien did with LOTR and it's a past version of today's world. I don't know I haven't really gotten down the specifics of it yet.
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 16
At around the half-way point, it bears mentioning that most of us wrimos have other obligations beside simply hitting that elusive word count. What else do you have going on in your life (work, school, children, neurotic pets, etc.), and just how much are you shafting it to win NaNo?
No job, but I have school, though it's not very tasking so I can handle it along with NaNo. The only thing I haven't been doing much of lately is reading. After three weeks, I finally picked up a book on Wednesday. That's actually why I didn't write anything on Wednesday.
Other than that, I don't have anything TO shaft. Yes, I live a pathetic life... :\
Nature~
NaNoWriMo is starting to get to me...
30 Days of NaNoWriMo - Day 15
Do any of your characters have a disability or mental illness? If so, how does that affect their development throughout your story?
Um, Bayard, Lord Elias's scholar, has gone a bit senile in his old age. He always adds some comic relief whenever he pops up in the story. Other than that, there one one else, as far as I know so far.
