Hello and welcome! This is the homepage and origin of the MediSoul Undertale AU! This is my first AU, so feel free to drop in questions and I'll get to them when I hop online. :)
I am a fanfiction author and not a very good artist. While I'd love to give him comics like the other AUs, I just don't have that artistic ability at this time. That said, I'll do my best to tell his story through snippets, stories and lore drops! Keep an eye out and you might occasionally see my attempt at art.
So, who is MediSoul and why is he here?
MediSoul is a Sans who has dedicated himself to practicing medicine. Teddy, his Papyrus, was born with an illness that affected his SOUL. With no doctors able to help him, MediSoul took it upon himself to become the doctor his brother needed.
At the time, the concept of a 'SOUL doctor' wasn't a thing. You had doctors, and you had SOUL Scientists. If someone's SOUL was damaged, you went to a doctor who consulted with a SOUL Scientist on your behalf. It was a very roundabout system that MediSoul thought was silly. So he singlehandedly created a hybrid medical field known as Animiatology. He would later bring this concept to the Multiverse at large.
He now runs a hospital he founded known as the Soul Sanctuary Hospital.
Okay, but why did you make him?
I noticed a distinct lack of SOUL-specializing healers in among the Undertale AU. I may have only been in this fandom for a little over half a year, but I love it! I figured MediSoul would be a great addition to the multiverse.

Can I use MediSoul in my comic/fanfic/video/artwork?

Why not just use Sci if you needed a doctor character?
I needed a medical professional specialized in SOUL healing. I've done extensive worldbuilding for this AU, and I hope it eventually makes it out into the fandom and can help along people who need a character like him.
Is Papyrus really dead??
Yes, unfortunately, he died before he'd graduated from stripes (he was likely around 12 or 13 when he died). The story's fairly tragic and I hope to tell it properly some day so I won't detail it just yet.
Why can Alphys Shortcut?
I have this idea that the Shortcut ability came from the incident that erased Gaster (and several other scientists, including some OCs of mine you'll eventually see). If Sans was there, and a small part of himself was erased as well, that could explain the Stats of 1 across the board, the Shortcut ability, and his ability to recall more than most during RESETs (deja vu, small fragments of memories, etc) So it stands to reason that if Alphys happened to be there, she'd gain some of those abilities as well.
Does this AU have RESETs/Pacifist Runs/Genocide Runs?
The MediSoul AU has never experienced a genocide route.
Does MediSoul have Stats of 1 like Classic Sans?
Yes! He does. His HP, ATK and DEF are all 1 across the board. However, his magic is physically unable to deal damage. Even if a Gaster Blaster fired a beam at someone, it wouldn't hurt them. If anything, it might have a mild healing effect! That said, his blasters can still bite, and harm that way, but they're usually used for defense or running memos around the hospital.

Random fact about the symbol on his breast pocket, it's the symbol of the Soul Sanctuary Hospital—the anamiatology hospital he founded, owns, and runs. The red heart is to represent humans (Frisk is the inspiration here), and the inverted cyan heart is to represent monsters (Patience trait because they're a hospital so they have patients. Yes, he worked a pun into his hospital's symbol). Both represent that they are there to heal all SOULs, monster and human alike. The cross behind it is the color of MediSoul's own magic, a greenish-cyan with the hex code #2AFEB7
Hi! I was wondering, other than his blasters being mini, what other things are special about his magic? Or is it similar to Classic? Also can the Blasters do damage or anything? Or do they just float around to do whatever MediSould needs of them lol
Great questions! MediSoul's magic is a color that is literally called 'greenish-cyan'. The color between Kindness and Patience—hex code #2AFEB7, if anyone was curious. haha.
His magic has a few different things he can do with it, from using his magic to scan the state of someone's SOUL, to forming small threads that he can use to stitch SOULs together (in rare and extreme cases)
I'm still figuring out everything myself, but those are the main two things.
His blasters are actually really unique in that they cannot cause damage. That's right, MediSoul's magic took the doctor's vow of 'do no harm' quite seriously. Normally, he only forms his minis. And... yeah, they can bite/nip at people and that can cause injury or harm, but it's more like a puppy.
Even his full-sized blasters are usually used as defensive mechanisms instead of attackers. Their blasts... don't deal damage. In fact, the blasts from his blasters are more likely to encourage the body's natural healing process.
In short, MediSoul's blasters are healing. His magic is physically incapable of directly harming someone. Oh, he can form bones like any other skeleton, but he won't use them to attack or harm people.
That said, MediSoul Sans is NOT the Royal Judge of his AU. :)
So how exactly does your world work? Are you all on the surface? Do you get many patients?
Great question! MediSoul had his own version of the True Pacifist Route, and the Barrier was ultimately broken. Monsters and humans now live together on the surface, and honestly? You'd be surprised how many humans need the profession of animiatology.
In my worldbuilding, human SOULs are far more resistant to pain and injury than a monster's. What that ends up looking like in this context is that a human's SOUL can accumulate far more damage than a monster's before it becomes something life-threatening.
On the Surface, the concept of animiatology—the study of the healing of SOULs—wasn't a thing, as magic itself had long since become legend on the Surface after the monsters were sealed centuries ago.
Many humans were highly skeptical about the practice at first—the thought of trusting anyone with the core of your very being is off-putting enough, but to trust a monster? A creature of the race that humanity had sealed underground ages ago and has every historical reason to hate humans?
Well, it takes a little while for animiatology to become an official practice on the Surface, but desperate people are desperate for a reason, and MediSoul and his team are very good at what they do.
By the time MediSoul has entered the multiverse, he's opened his own hospital (the Soul Sanctuary Hospital) which has both monsters and humans on the payroll! He's known in his world (and the multiverse) as the leading figure of animiatology, and often called the founder of the practice.
His wait list is quite long, and he's got a fully-trained staff of animiatologists. In the MediSoul AU, the practice of animiatology is eventually recognized by the world as an official medical practice, and new animiatologists now crop up across the globe—several trained by MediSoul or members of his hand-trained staff.
"If you have the will to fight, then I will fight with you" is one of the things he often says. He does not believe in hopeless cases.

For those who are curious, many of my fanficiton-type headcanons involve Dusttale Sans (by @ask-dusttale). In fact, in my stories I gave him a significant amount of SOUL damage, which eventually led to me creating MediSoul because I needed someone who could reliably heal that damage—a specialist.
MediSoul's blasters are typically tiny baby blasters (known as minis) and cannot do damage. They often act as messengers around the hospital to bring notes to and from the staff (most rooms have small dog-door like flaps around shoulder-height so the minis can zoom from room to room. Some staff members have marked certain minis with sharpies and given them individual names)
The chinchilla monster you see is Andy! A nurse from one of my stories. He'll eventually work for MediSoul in the pediatrics department.
Also, MediSoul owns the hospital he works at. It's called the Soul Sanctuary Hospital, and it's run entirely on donations—never charges patients for anything.
