April Drawing- Day ?

Whoops, didn't mean to go MIA on this blog! I've been trying to keep up with @aprildrawing , but between work/school/camping/being sick (not necessarily all at the same time) my free time's been limited, at best. Still, here are some doodles I've managed to plop out over the past week or so. Hopefully I can get back on track soon 😅

April Drawing- Day 9 | Broken

The design for the doll in this is actually loosely based off my memories of my favourite childhood doll, Glowy. Only loosely based, though, because I haven’t seen her in like 18 years, and all I really remember it that her dress was blue and it glowed in the dark (hence the name, lol)

The second image was actually from me checking the values to see if the characters blend in with the background too much (which they do, but I painted them and the background on the same layer and wasn’t willing to go back and meticulously paint around everything to fix it orz) but I liked how it looked with the overlays I have, so I threw it in too

Having one of those "nothing I draw turns out" days again, decided to make a cute bear with office supplies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

April Drawing- Day 7

Ahhh I really wanted to follow today’s prompt, but nothing I drew was turning out, so I just did a Generic Girl Doodle™ instead, orz

April Drawing- Day 6 | Mushroom

She’s a mushroom fighter. Whether that means she fights mushrooms, she is a mushroom who fights, or both, I’m not sure

April Drawing- Day 5 | Hair

Whoops, accidentally turned this into a draw this again challenge!

Originally I did the drawing on the right because I figured the idea was quick and easy and fit today's theme, but after I was done I realized I've actually done this idea before

The doodle on the left was my first go at these inks back in January, 2018. It was a veeeery quick one because I just wanted to get to playing with the inks, and it's been pasted to the cover of a sketchbook for ages, so it's a little worse for wear, but I still think it's fun to look back on and see how far I've come 😊

April Drawing- Day 4 | Animal Symbolism

I had a very ambitious idea for today’s theme, but only like 20 minutes to do it, so I decided to put that idea on the back burner and draw my OC with the animal I relate her most with, a crow, instead

The crow’s a lot smaller than an adult crow should be, and I ended up drawing Marina far younger and less stressed than I usually do, so I like to imagine that this is from an AU where instead of having to deal with a pain in the butt son she opens a bird nursery and raises baby corvids

April Drawing- Day 3 | Unrealistic Colors

I did an extra page of inkwash yesterday but ended up not using it, so I figured it’d make a good fox for today’s prompt :3c

April Drawing- Day 2 | Calligraphy/Graffiti

I don't know if this reaaaally counts as calligraphy because it's just me trying to write in cursive semi-neatly, lol

This quote (from "Your Ex-Lover is Dead" by Stars) is one of my all time favourites, so it was really a joy to get a chance to illustrate it!

There are definitely things I wish I could do better, like unfortunately my fineliners and my white gel pen didn't want to get along, so the lettering's not as neat as I would like, and some of the spacing is a little off, but overall I really like how this turned out! Also, I swear the paper isn't cut extremely unevenly, the ink wash just warped it and it won't lay flat now, lol

April Drawing- Day 1 | Warmup

I told myself that I wasn't going to do @aprildrawing this year... That between life and school work and work work I was way too busy... That I was super out of practice with drawing anyways, so doing a daily drawing challenge was a little over ambitious... Buuuut, I really missed it when I skipped last year, so I figured I might as well just take the plunge and do it anyways, even if I know I probably won't make everyday ^^"

Anyways, I figured this would fit with the theme for today, because these little fox? Cat? Animal? things have been my go-to doodle when I have nothing else to draw because they're fun and a lot easier to draw than real people, lol

Still trying to learn Clip Studio Paint, but I think I’m slowly getting the hang of it (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑
