About The Beta Force: Gazerbeam founded the Thrilling Three in 1943 in response to a call for the reduction of crime at home while the United States was in its second year of fighting alongside the Allies in WWII. The group brought down a secret organization of fascists planning to bomb the nation’s capital in May of that year, marking their first big takedown. The three’s egos clashed often, particularly Gazerbeam’s and The Phylange’s. Because of this, Apogee often had to speak for them at press events and assume the position of their public relations representative along with her job as tactical strategist. After their disbandment, the National Supers Agency resolved to omit numbers from team names, as it brought attention to the fluctuation of membership.

Meet: The Phylange

March 29, 1922 - January 12, 1965

Secret Identity: Opera Singer

Threat Rating: 4.7

Biography: The Phylange, (a.k.a. Luciano Resetti) grew up in Queens, New York City, New York. He often sang in the locker room showers at school and eventually found himself a spot as one of the lead soloists in several school concerts despite mockery from other male students. Before his successful career as an opera singer in New York, where he starred in hits such as La Boheme, Madame Butterfly, and The Marriage of Figaro, he sold peanuts at ballpark games as his part-time job in high school and college, wherein he discovered his ability to project his voice and gain customers across the stadium. Gazerbeam recruited him for the Thrilling Three in 1943, as he narrowly avoided the draft. The two often argued much to the dismay of Apogee over who would get to sit on the center seat of the Thrilling Three Chopper, a motorcycle with two side cars used by the group and supplied by The Phylange as transportation. His entitlement to fame and dislike of Gazerbeam led him to quitting the group in 1946 with Apogee to follow in 1948, effectively disbanding The Thrilling Three. In 1965, Syndrome recruited and subsequently killed him via the Omnidroid x.V2 during the Operation Kronos trial runs.

About The Beta Force: The National Supers Agency put Blazestone and Universal Man together for this duo in 1949 as part of Blazestone’s rehabilitation following multiple counts of arson. They fought side-by-side with much tension in their partnership until the Superhero Relocation Act in 1951. Beta force brought down the Marmeládov crime family in June of 1950 along with several affiliates, tracing their support to the Orwell Waste Management Company and causing New York City to create its own division of waste management as a result. Their smaller acts of justice, such as those against the Jukebox Jammer, Adrian Ranft, and the Rogue Courier brought New York City to a time of peace until the Superhero Relocation Act’s passage the following year.

Meet: Universal Man

Biography: Due to his accent, experts speculate Universal Man originated from Austria or Germany and emigrated to the United States somewhere after the second World War. His first recorded act of heroism took place in 1946, when he saved a leaking gas main from exploding in Rockwell, Vermont. Between then and 1964, he moved across the country through states such as Maine, Florida, and finally to New York in 1949, where the National Supers Agency paired him up with Blazestone for her rehabilitation period. They met at the abandoned statue of Atlas on the World’s Fair Pavilion, only working at night. He frequented the gym, movies, and mall when crime activity during the day, owing to his habit to trying to stay busy all the time. All this he did in his super suit, as he refused to create a secret identity for himself. In 1964, the Omnidroid v.X1 killed him on Nomanisan, becoming the first super to be killed by Syndrome.

Meet: Splashdown

Bio: Splashdown was a hero that possessed water-based superpowers. Splashdown had a love for the sea and was obsessed with uncovering lost relics in the seas. He dreamed of locating the ancient underwater city of Atlantis. His name Splashdown comes from his love for the ocean and his secret identity as an oceanographer. He would frequently be seen studying intensely on subjects involving ocean currents and undersea life.

Meet: Stratogale

Bio: Stratogale’s name comes from a combination of “stratosphere”, an upper layer of the atmosphere, and “gale”, a strong wind. Also notable is the closeness to ‘gal’, much like many of the other heroines have -girl names and the fact that “gale” is a homophone for the female name “Gail.”. She often went to her hometown zoo and would feed the birds at the hatchery. Her classmates often ridiculed her for going to feed the birds every day; despite this, when she puts on a mask and takes on the name Stratogale, she is very confident and flamboyant about her costume and abilities.

Meta-Man Day

Every year, on November 14th, Metroville celebrates the national Meta-Man holiday. During this time, school is not in session and work is dismissed. Meta-Man was known for being the "greatest superhero of all time." And to commemorate his good deeds, the town gathers on the 14th of November in the middle of the city, surrounding Meta-Man's beloved statue. Every member of Metroville is to praise Meta-Man and give quick thanks to his statue, as well as leave behind a small token of gratitude. 

Meta-Man's powers included Super strength, X-ray vision, Sonic scream, Teleportation, Magnetic Manipulation as well as partial Invisibility. He was 100% dedicated to hero work and was the most passionate about his job out of all the heroes. He died on November 14, 1960, when he was saving an express elevator and his cape snagged while lifting it back into place. 

Meta-Man was known to be one of the strongest superheroes of his time and possibly in overall history. Because of his array of superpowers, he was also known to be the All-American Super, and was (and still is) featured on front pages of Magazines and tabloids. 

During Meta-Man day, all citizens are disconnected from technology and studies. This day is solely in place to honor and remember the good that Meta-Man did for civilization, and praise him for dying honorably.

About The Phantasmics: The Phantasmics was formed in 1948 by Everseer and Gazerbeam for the sole purpose of fighting international crime. These two Supers never saw eye to eye, resulting in the dismembering of Gazerbeam as Everseer took the position of team leader. Macroburst, Plasmabolt and Psychwave were brought onto the team shortly after. Some international crimes The Phantasmics are known for fighting include: Terapod attack in Italy, Cyclops takeover in Guam and Silverclaw in New Zealand. The Phantasmics disbanded after the fall of their leader followed by Macroburst and international crimes rose to an all time high.

Biography: Blazestone moved to Municiberg at 18 from Sediment, Iowa to attend college. After several counts of arson and incarceration, the National Supers Agency (NSA) recruited her, keeping the heroine under a watchful eye. Before his marriage, Frozone partnered up with Blazestone to fight crim. After their falling out, the NSA paired her and Universal Man together as part of her rehabilitation process, founding the Beta Force. She died on May 6, 1964 while fighting the Omnidroid v.X2

Biography: Plasmabolt, secretly known as Lorraine Ridder, was born in Buzzopolis, Alaska. She keeps her powers and superhero identity completely hidden by acting as a national park ranger at Yellowstone National Park. Her hobbies include hiking, collecting and pressing leaves and flying planes. She fears rain, thunderstorms and anything do to with a change in the weather due to the fact that her wings and antennae would get damaged and she wouldn't be able to fly or access her powers. However, she was reported missing one day after a historic thunderstorm and nobody has seen or heard of her since.

Meet: Everseer

Bio: Everseer, also known as Herman Mellin, grew up in the small town of Perceptiville, Kentucky. He is somewhat of an introvert and highly dislikes physical contact due to his germaphobic disorder. In fact, he shared therapist practice with Psycwave. He is the author of both novels: "Shut Up! Quieting Your Inner Voice" and "Beware! Unseen Dangers of the Microscopic World." He likes to think of himself as helpful and continuously gives advice to other heroes who have the power of telepathy and clairvoyance. Everseer is the leader of Phantasmics and had a short rivalry with Gazerbeam for the position. He enjoys yoga, quiet meditation and washing his hands. During his Operation Kronos training sessions, however, he was killed by the Omnidroid v.X1.

Biography: Simon J. Paladino a.k.a. Gazerbeam grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and graduated Magna Cum Laude at the University of Chicago, where he achieved his law degree a few years later, pursuing a secret identity career as a Pro Bono lawyer. After the passage of the Superhero Relocation Act in 1951, Gazerbeam fought to repeal it, but to no avail. Before joining The Thrilling Three, he defended the city alongside the Phantasmics, but was dismissed due to a rivalry with its leader, Everseer. He took the position of leader in The Thrilling Three after the death of Dynaguy. In an interview, he mentioned his fondness for peanut butter and chocolate. During Operation Kronos, Gazerbeam successfully destroyed Omnidroid v.X4, but was killed by v.X5 a few weeks later.

Biography: Apogee began her career as a Super in Arizona, then moved to Los Angeles, California, where she found a great deal of work. She finds it difficult to use her powers at night, as they rely on the power of the sun, and therefore could not do many acts of heroism during late hours. After Los Angeles, Apogee's career plateaued, as other cities' crime rates could not compare to the vast metropolis. She met her demise at the claws of the Omnidroid v.X4 in 1966.
