Flora: The flower meanings in this story are pulled from Floriography by Jessica Roux, except where I took creative liberties or made things up (such as the meanings of bells of Ireland Tookbank, milkweed, and rockrose). Incidentally, this is a gorgeous book, perfect for any fans of the Victorian flower language.

Character depictions: There’s no rhyme or reason as to why some characters look more or less like their movie counterparts. I like to play with character designs, and these are the ones that settled in place for this fic. It’s nothing personal against any of the actors or their portrayals.

963. Muggleborns who are figure skaters or hockey players ask the professors to freeze over the lake for a while every day so they can practice every day instead of just when the lake freezes over in the winter.

1040. When Snape was Headmaster some muggleborns would rebel by singing ‘Do you hear the people sing’ around the castle.

1066.  Deciding that “Hogwarts: A History” is in serious danger of being the dullest book in the library, a small group of muggleborns get together to recreate the book from a non-magical point of view. This includes priceless bits of information like “The ceiling is mostly just a huge waste of effort, as one can judge the weather simply by looking outside the ENORMOUS WINDOWS” and “How is the castle heated? Who knows? Who can tell? Must be magic.”

1067. A muggleborn Herbology student brings in a Venus flytrap and enchants it to sing songs from Little Shop of Horrors. Soon, he and the plant are being called Seymour and Audrey II.

1211. Some first year Gryffindors discover a baby dragon in the forbidden forest. They decide to keep and raise the dragon in secret, recruiting the other house’s first years to help. Eventually the dragon gets too big to keep a secret, but it becomes so attached to the students and the school grounds that Headmaster finally agrees to let the dragon become the unofficial guardian of the school.

1229. Muggleborns getting excited when they find out that Amazon has a department where wizards can order things such as school supplies and regular muggle items.

1311. If you don’t know what to read you can always just go to the library and there will be a book there just for you, much like ‘the wand chooses it’s wizard’ the book chooses it’s reader

1314. Muggleborns who do ballet are pleased to find that the Room of Requirement gives them plenty of practice space. Some even start giving lessons to those who are interested, including some house elves who, like Dobby, love clothes and join just for the tutus.

1328. The daughter of a muggle sexologist is horrified at the lack of sex education at Hogwarts and starts impromptu anatomy and health lectures for her fellow classmates in the Ravenclaw common room, Great Hall, and Library (until she is kicked out). Madame Pomfrey eventually hears about it and gives her lessons on Wizarding Contraceptives so she can pass them along to the student body.

1355. Muggleborns doing their senior project in charms develop a spell that allows the families of muggleborns living in hot climates to swap air in their dwellings with their counterparts living in cold climates via a small vortex located near the ceilings in their homes, thus saving families in heating and cooling expenses and saving of greenhouse omissions.

1591. In the end of November, the owls delivers advent calenders to the muggelborns sent from their parents.

1689. A disgruntled Shakespeare-fan muggleborn  trying to read but is constantly interrupted by the arguments between Gryffindor and Slytherin students. They shout “A PLAGUE ON BOTH YOUR HOUSES” before going back to their book.

1823. Disney fanatics are pleased to find out that Mary Poppins was actually an Edwardian witch who was noted for violating the Statute of Secrecy multiple times when she became a nanny to muggle children.

1986. First year Hufflepuff muggleborns make blanket and pillow forts in their common room and invite the first year purebloods to help them. Upper classmen will help charm the forts to stay up for longer periods of time. It’s become a tradition for on some of the days when they are stuck inside because of weather, they will have competitions between years to see who can make the best one. There are all different kinds of categories so every year has a big chance of winning.

2011. Muggleborns joining the DMLE and being completely scandalised by the lack of evidence needed to get a conviction (hello Pettigrew’s finger) - “you mean, unless you get a confession or an eyewitness, you don’t have anything? But confessions can be forced, eyewitnesses can be confused (especially with magical disguises) or blackmailed or bribed” - and completely overturning the justice and legal systems. Muggleborns carving out a new sub-department of the DMLE, the brand new Magical Forensics division, and they’ve charmed the door so that every time an Auror comes in it plays the CSI theme tune.

2053. Muggleborns who miss their culture’s food bring in ingredients and recipes for the house elves every time they come back from breaks. Soon, house elves start to incorporate different cultures’ food into normal meals.
